Funny, in my time owning a Honda, being on two Civic forums, I saw only a handful of K20 engined cars. The majority went with the simpler conversion of a B18 or B16. Perhaps because it's easier, and is proven? Even a straight B16 swap gives, what, 160bhp? B18s start at 170, up to 190bhp without too much hassle? Without even thinking about turbocharging, which seems relatively simple. I fail to see how an EG Civic, which weighs fuck all, fitted with a 180bhp engine is going to be "slow". It won't be a missile compared to some stuff on this forum, but it's still a quick car however you look at it. My old 1.6 SOHC vtec Civic felt just as quick as my current RS2000, which is 2.0, 150bhp, compared to the 1.6 125bhp of the Honda. Clearly says something for it doesn't it? You're speaking utter toss. I'm not a big Honda fan, but the engines are clearly very capable for what they are.

mate i compared the type r with my 190bhp mapped bora! and the other civis i raced wer all like 1.6 vtecs etc.. the k series one was raced against a evo and lost and raced against me on the a38 and also got left behind. im just saying civics are over rated!! why do people think they are RAPID? like i said i smoke them in a remapped bora tdi ! thats just a run about so why the big hype about the vtec? there ok ish but QUICK

All im reading is some dribble about you smoking some vtec car and getting really excited about it, you have a bora diesel which is remapped so i don't think you can get carried away about slating the vtec engines

I'm sure your Bora might be quicker pulling from lower revs, but I think if the Civic was on song, you'd get mullered. What type of Civic was the K-series in? If it was in an older one, you would have got dicked if he was trying I'm sure.

my mates brother has a stripped out eg civic with a 185hp b16 engine in it, and i definatley wouldnt call it slow.
hes yet to fit a bolt-on turbo kit that will give 250hp with no other mods

my boras quicker all the way from a normal type r civic or the 1.6 vtects in the eg or whatver they are! the k series i raced rolling from 30 to 150 in my rs turbo and it got left for dead i just pulled in every gear the k series engine was in a very small light civic.. not the box shape one but the one same size in the better shape. he then had a go with a evo and got dicked by that aswell. he thought he will leave the evo and came up with the excuse " vtec wasnt in mate" so had 3 runs and just kept getting dicked! whats the point if the vtec aint in? this is what makes them very slow . it comes in too late and then when it comes in it just screams and dont really go anywhere[general ones] the k seires one was ok ish it would have smoked my bora but its not compared to my bora because my car only had a remap not a engine change! so thats where i raced it with my rs with a zetec turbo engine

Friend of mine has an EG with a k20 lump in it. Slow isn't how I would describe that. I mean, 220bhp in a gutted car that weighs well under a ton.
Alas, when he was building it he forgot about torks, so now he gets "smoked" by people carriers. Shame really.

Momo, my friend used to run a 96-spec Integra Type-R... so a 1.8ltr B18 engine, everything about it was standard apart from: a Spoon ECU, Mugen Airbox and de-cat Spoon N1 exhaust... so power-wise, maybe 205bhp (give or take 5bhp).

He fitted 888s to the standard wheels and ran a 13.9 down the 1/4 mile, iirc with a terminal of 100mph.

Your mapped Bora wouldn't know which way it went and your RS Turbo would seriously struggle to put it's power down and do that time on Crail surface, which is absolute dogshite for drag racing.

ok my bora i aint bothered about.. my rs turbo is a zetec turbo proven 300plus bhp.. running a t4 turbo and hardly wheelspins mate [big turbo] so t888s [tryed and tested] doesnt wheelspin unless i rev it up very hard and lauch it.. not being funny but i aint ever come accross a integra that has even kept up with my rs turbo on a straight road.
off the line they might beat me IF i spin but i generally do beat them. maybe one day ill come across the right one and get my arse handed back to me i suppose...my car people estimate early 13s . i have run against 13 second cars and beaten them but at the pod i havent tryed and i know it aint as easy as it looks which is why i asked what i need to do to make sure i am in the 13s on central day
