Looks like a camera car to me, gear & operator goes in the back.
The camo is just on there as a joke, the cars either get a full coat if they are completely new styling, partial camo if it is just a styling tweak eg. a new front end that needs hiding, or if it very late in the process then just the badges get covered.
If it was a convertible the rear deck wouldn't go so far back.

The only problem with the 'convertible mule' idea is that you can already get a convertible bodyshell - and this isn't based on one, rear end makes that pretty obvious as the panels are different.
Also fairly obvious isn't not a platform dev mule or a convertible mechanism test mule as it's missing some vital bits.
Seriously, you'll find it's a car that's been hacked about for doing something like filming on track and it's going through a bit of a shakedown run.
Pretty sure if you look you'll find pictures of other similar cars, I can remember a Galaxy that was chopped about into a semi-convertible and that was for filming too.
