mondeo 2.0 alternator advice
i have heared that the alternator out a 2.0 zetec blacktop mondeo charge at a default rate of 13.9 with no ecu control wire attached, just the main live attached that runs to the starter?
is this true? i tried it in my car but the battery light came on in the car.
any help would be great.

It will have a "Smart Charge" system, there is a three pin connector, I think with this disconnected the alternator becomes a normal alternator from what I can remember. Even though the battery light was on did you see what power you had? Usually and I am speaking of alternators in general you would still need a feed to the alternator which excites the field windings to start charging, this was provided via the battery warning light.
