Forum tuners! Any of you worked with Rover M.E.Ms?
Trying to get hold of a 220 turbo and wanting to look into options of wether the management is bin fodder or if any of you have any magic you can work on this system?

IMO, Stick it in the bin. An awfull piece of electronics.
I had the "pleasure" in writing some of the ROVER approved diagnostic tools
software for the MEMS system and it was very tempremental to work with.

So, frm this opinion Simon what would you suggest and what benefits would I see.
On this then, you may be able to answer a quick question, Is MEM's Dynamic to each and every driver. I know your gonna have maps for Load, Speed, Bla bla bla.
But I heard some one say that it adapts per every 200 miles and sets itself from thier.
Is this complete Cods.

RST_lee,
MEMS is like any othe ecu from that era in that it does retune
the idle and mid range using a standard narrow band lambda sensor if fitted.
The retuning is purely to optimise fuelling an reduce emmisions NOT to
increase power output or delivery characteristics individually.
I have heard of 1 or 2 people that have modified MEMS but cant remember
their names and this was over 8 years ago.
I would recomend the Emerald ECU system for the rover engine as this was
originally designed to replace MEMS and the company who supplies it
has down much development work on those engines.

mems is crap as others have said. i went dta on my coupe turbo, and had a plug n play socket box i wired up, did andy nicholls maestro the same way. andy also maps dta on rovers, so has some decent base maps and the like. really quite an easy conversion, you can use the original throttle pos switch, all you need is a decent map sensor, air and water temp senders to suit. andy n has also done rovers with the later distributorless ignition and flywheel configuration which works very well.
emerald is ok, but we didnt get the response you'd have hoped for when trying to buy a few ecus and get a rover turbo mapped , during the long delay in response from emerald we bought fitted and mapped dta!
pm me if you want any info. i have a full pin out diagram for mems and a dta-mems conversion chart for making up your own thro box.

A little But had a Rover Metro GTI 16Valve which I put a 1600 16V lump in. Was scary as hell to drive but was rapid. This was when I was 18. Bloody loved that car.
