I bought one for the mrs, tried hard keeping her with ford, had FRP, 09 titanium tdci fiesta, changed to the 09 zetec s,,was really dull so mountuned it to 140bhp again super dull, we looked at mk1 focus RS but feel to old now andshe didnt want to go back in years. I have the mk2 RS and owned st before that so she didn't want same kinda car,,I've drove it a right bit and hate to say but it's light years ahead of the fiesta not only in power but shear solid feel, feels like a focus quality, fiesta was a little tin can effect, aint had it long enough to comment on reliability but will keep post updated

They shit gear boxes for fun... My Mates had nothing but trouble with his and some other people I know also the same....I also have a low mileage mint FRS mk1 and I've owned a mk2 for just over a year when they was new... Being honest I much prefer the mk1 as a daily and it's certainly better than a corsa vxr....if you mrs is into driving hard then I'd say get her a Mazda 3 mps... Top car and newer.

I was hoping that we could get new focus st but not into 4 door cars,,gutted with ford lately, fiesta total pants and now no 3 door focus st, deff not good for life long owners!!!!
There are a lot of bad mk1 focus Rs's about, deff hard to get a good 1.

Professional Waffler
Outpaced one through the twisty stuff in my old Audi tank. Lad told me that he was chuffed to only lose a bit to an S4. He looked quite gutted when I told him it was a FWD 1.8.
Can't comment on reliabilty of the VXR but hope they are better than our company fleet cars which are shocking. In fact I'm looking out my office window at an 09 plate Corsa that is going to the delearship for the 5th time in 6 weeks. The contract for our fleet vehicles is being pulled from Vauxhall due to the issues experienced.

Test drove one of these a few months back.
Some details for comparison (wisebuyers):
ST:
BHP 222.0
Torque (lbs feet) 236.0
RPM to which the Torque refers 4000
Maximum Speed 150
Acceleration (0-60) 6.8
Insurance Group 17
Fuel Economy: Urban 20.5
Fuel Economy: Extra Urban 41.5
Fuel Economy: Combined 30.4
Emissions Data (co2 gm/km) 224.0
Service Intervals 12 mnths/12500 miles
CORSA
BHP 189.0
Torque (lbs feet) 170.0
RPM to which the Torque refers 3915
Maximum Speed 140
Acceleration (0-60) 6.8
Insurance Group 16
Fuel Economy: Urban 26.9
Fuel Economy: Extra Urban 44.1
Fuel Economy: Combined 35.8
Emissions Data (co2 gm/km) 190.0
Service Intervals 12 mnths/20000 miles
They do look a bit like the A-team built them while trapped in Ripspeed but it's all a bit relative really.
To a Golf GTI 35 owner a VXR is probably as loud as an orange ST with white manufacturer stripe stickers; just personal preference really.
Seats are real good, interior is ok, the handling and traction are quite poor but nothing you couldn't work around. I would have one.
Hope this helps a bit.

Sorry guys guilty as charged lol,,,well for me it's nice option to take my RS out whenever I need to, been ford man all my life but just venting a little as ford aint produced a good fiesta and upset the new st don't have 3 door option so can't blame the mrs for wanting something different and not an old classic, I'd have prefered a mk1 RS but living in N.Ireland they are hard to come by, but I will keep you guys posted if corsa blows up like most feel it will lolol

Judgeing by Vauxhalls build quality it should be poor, however if I was in the market for that sort of car I think I would rather have one of them opposted to the Fiesta ST, sadly Ford no longer offer anything like they used to (I.E for those in the FI market) and missing out on a huge gap imo!
Cheers,
Grant

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I'm a service consultant for Vauxhall, and can honestly say they are not that bad at all!!....until people get te modifying bug. Yes, engine and box issues...when you've remapped it. They are built for the power they're designed for! In fact, I would say they're very reliable...with ac pipes being the only consistent concern.
And no, I'm not in love with the brand or the car, just thought that some real facts would be usefull.
