24v capri...what next?
Hello,,
My dads got a mk3 capri with a 24v cosworth v6 in it and its still running the standard 2.8i special 5spd box and lsd. the gearbox leaks oil and whines at 85mph+
its been dyno'd at around 200hp and 215ft/ib torque and goes pretty well, but he wants more out of it.
The car is mainly used on the weekends e.g. traffic light grand prix's, making a load of noise and general pissing about hes more into acceleration rather than topspeed, and with the type9 box its only revving at 4000rpm at 100mph yet still pulls easy when floored, and accelerates hard through the gears so that kind of gearing is ideal.
People on other forums have mt75 gearbox's on standard 24v's and some have t5 boxes but then theres the issue of the input shaft length and bellhousing. Some people have even said the ratios are abit too long.
He's also been looking at v8's for it but the v6 helps keep it abit more discreet/sleeperish
What mods are best for the 24v e.g. n/a tuned, single turbo, twin turbo, supercharge etc and whats the best gearbox for it?
whats been tested and fitted that works best? i would have said 350hp would easily be enough for it
