Thieving Cants
After having my car nicked over xmas, car security is something that i feel i should be spending more money on. Just wondering what devices everyone else uses and how much they cost. I was looking at a tracker of some sort combined with an immobiliser. Any thoughts?
I find this system is most effective, the same system protects the stately home, our vehicles, in fact it's a most adaptable all rounder, highly recommended.

Tracker can be expensive as it carrys a subscription. Best get one that takes a payg sim and fit yourself for around Ł100 or less
Do all that and if you car goes they really wanted it

can u not get trackers that u can track on google maps? im sure i seen/heard/read about such a thing but cant remember, id love to get one for my sierra, would ruin my life if some cunt nicked it and never seen it again
In keeping with the shotgun angle on security, I'd love to put a claymore in the driver's footwell. Even if it took out half the car when it went off, I'd feel happy knowing that i'd done the country a great service by getting rid of another thieving scumbag.
Should hopefully bring the insurance premiums down a wee bit as well.

only flaw with that plan onionlover is youd be getting bum raped in prison for at least 15 years as youd almost certainly get life sentance with a long minimum term because judges/the law system in general hates vigilante action so it gets a disproportionately high sentance as an "example" to discourage it.
thing is if sentencing for ordinary folk was same as scumbags then more of us would be tempted to do vigilante action.
The tracker systems are good in most cases although IMO you need 2 systems, one monitored system so someone can go looking for your car, preferably a system the police use, and one system on a sim card etc so you can track it too.
Most tracker companies will NOT give you live updates and the police are busy enough these days that you almost certainly will NOT get a cop car tasked to find a tracker activation for several hours and if other shit is going on then you are low priority. Thats where your own system is useful to help you track it. Speed is of the essence these days, criminals are aware of trackers and will usually try to find a lock up quick so they can start stripping panels looking for the tracker. so sooner you have a static location the better your chances of finding the car before the system is disabled and car moved.
Also with two systems well hidden, hopefully they will give up looking after finding one system. All depends if they have advanced RF signal detection gear or not. Some these days have the gear to detect signal transmissions so can use that to determine if theyve got the devices. You just have to hope they find one tracker and assume thats it and not check the car again.
the good tracker systems have controllable outputs so you can shut off fuel pump or any other relay controlled circuit you choose. Can be useful if the cars been jacked/stolen from a garage working on it etc.

yeah its called a GSM tracker
trust me, by the time youve fitted the phone, phone 12v power supply, extra GPS and GSM aerials, constant on mods to phone, plus worked out how to do it all, you will find it cheaper to buy an ebay GSM tracker all ready packaged.

It's very easy, just make it less attractive to a pikey than other peoples cars.
I'd start with the basic alarm/immoby, it's all very well people saying if they want it they will get it, but putting mr realistic head on tells you a pro is not going to bother with your car in the first place, so determine who your target "audience" is.
I would use a toad either a ai606 or C5T2, which is my fave, the pedal device in the link I can get off in less than 5 seconds with ZERO mark let alone damage to the car.
Being fussy where you park it will have more effect than you'd imagine, a tracker is a good idea, but seriously anything remotely vigilante, although a nice feeling would land you a free "holiday", it could also back fire, so you spend the rest of your life worrying looking over your shoulder, put this way kill a pikey, although you are doing a public service imo, they won't leave it unanswered, and it don't matter who you are, or what you are capable of, for a bit of metal do you really want to expose you/family to danger for the rest of your life ?.

the key with these things tabetha is not get caught and leave no witness
come on, a man with your obvious knowledge and experience should know that!!
Tony Martin only went wrong because he left survivors. Sure, the next day the pikeys family would have been round wondering where their kids were but they cant prove anything and it would have been no more hassle than he already had from pikeys.

ive got a toad alarm and a security post behind the car which i extended downwards by welding more box section and bits sticking out of the sides into a good amount of concrete which is poured all round it then paving slabs over the top.
a decent padlock is a must though, they are normally the week point of these posts.
just undo the padlock and lift the post out every time you take the car out.
you could probably stick a chain around it and drag it out with a bigish van, but you aint gonna do it quickly and quietly, plus the car is fairly well boxed in with other vehicles most nights.
