Whats thr GT equivalent of a t34?
Or should I ask what GT model of turbo is good for upto 400? Is it leagues ahead of the t34 in spool up etc.
What are the price comparisons?
I'm looking for a new turbo to go with a good stg 3 conversion.

Paul,
If you're sticking with greens, put a 0.48 a/r housing on your existing turbo (and give it a 360° thrust bearing / 7° cut back for longeivity while doing so) - this is the cheapest way of getting the response you are after....
Won't be good for 400bhp, but if you're sticking with 803s, then there is no point in going above this.

Mike, I'm aiming for 350/360 so will be staying with greens. Will the power tail off dramatically at the top end with 0.48 housing???

Not dramitically, but noticably. However, you'll have more "area" under the graph.
The big difference would be the drop in power from 6500 to 7000, which would ne MUCH steeper with the smaller housing.
You could always compromise with the 0.55 a/r, but it's not worth doing unless you have the fuel to benefit such a turbo. 400s are more suited for this turbo.

Fair enough, can see your point, as Lag is basically part of cossie life, but a lot of people used to jap motors would probably prefer a GT28RS cossie to a T4 one etc.
All down to personal preference at the end of the day.

I too have similar setup mapped by karl but on greys
karl said because of my exhaust housing the boost holding at top end would be limited but still love it.
peaks at 31psi holds 25 through the rev range
ive had it upto 150mph and not felt it tail off that much
who needs to go faster (im not interested in proving whos got the best car )
paul you can have a drive of mine at bedford if you want

I think my turbo has a small oil leak on the front seal so I would chop it in for a whole new one.
The disco would be too small as I'm looking at achieving 350/360.
Does this mean you'd want to drive mine

Neil,
Who give's a fuck what a bloke that "moisturises" thinks? . He's hardly a man anymore is he - more like an ugly bird .
FFS just TRY the 0.48 a/r - even Chumped admitted to me that he was just winding you up and thinks you should do the same - but won't tell you that, as he is having too much fun pulling your plonker .

i find my .55 ex h an excellent turbo for my wants from the car full boost by 3300rpm (37 spike 32 held) and next to sod all drop off at 7k (still 28psi). has been matched to the head, cams and timing though. needs a complete package to work to its best
std engine/cams/head on t34 .48 803 is a well smart conversion imo. a lot of conversion for not a lot of money
.....not one for the scots though

Ben,
It won't be cack, you just won't have enough fuelling to reap the full benefits of running a turbo of this size...
To be honest, with Stu's recent L8 lamda chips, you'd be crazy not to run bigger injectors - all the power the turbo can achieve with a huge fuelling safety margin AND the fuel economy of a standard car (when driving sensibly ).

Chip and Mike - thanks, that's pretty much what I thought but stuck with a 205 block I don't really want to go for more than 330bhp - although I was tempted to put blues in it at some stage. Just thought the .55 might cope a bit better than a .48 on track day bashing sessions, not overly bothered about fuel consumption to be honest, if it was built around a 200 block and slightly lower comp I'd probably stick greys in it!
Cheers,
Ben

Yeah I know of cars running big boost and power on 205s too, but my engine's a bit of an unknown quantity at the moment (not taken it to bits and can't see the need to this year as it 'seems' strong) and don't wanna risk it! If I get bored of low to mid 300s I might just stick greys in and keep my fingers crossed it doesn't pop! (Also, 175/50VR13 tyres aren't all that even at 270bhp!)
Cheers for your comments lads sorry to hijack the thread!!
