The noise is not so funny for my friends really. when driving with the steering to the right the engine makes a kind of metalic noise as if you were touching the flywheel or a pulley with a metal object. it dissapears when in the straight ahead or turning left. i have checked and cannot see anything fouling the pulleys. Any ideas as to the problem welcome.

you sure it's engine and not a broken spring?

That was my first thought. Be careful jacking it up to check as the spring can become dislodged rendering the car undriveable.

If you drive round in a circle and knock it into neutral the noise remains but does speed up and go higher pitched if the engine is revved. if you could imagine a wall paper scraper bouncing and touching the flywheel then you got the noise. could it be the starter?

how many miles has it got on it?

if it's the 4 speed it might need a fluid change
