k&n bolt on filter (may go twin 40's but not sure yet)
aftermarket manifold and exhaust system (unsure of what make yet.any ideas?)
bit of head work.port,polish.
would like to get a cam kit but unsure what one to get.newman?kent?piper?

Hows about this, money irrelevant in your pocket but instead of buying a cam and having the head work done which you obviously know as you need both for one or the other too work then the carbs and set up choke sizes etc.Why don't you look for a lump/top end out of say oval racer/stock/track car or whatever class and put your hard earned into the turbo project side of things?.I only say this because in years gone buy on old projects I have spent a few quid getting too the spec I wanted with new pinto parts like 2.1 bottom end,stg4 head,45's etc and I could of gone and bought a car near enough !.A guy who lived in my street drove stock rods for about 20 years Escort mk2/starlets/novas and did build his own engines and also for others. He has his own flow bench and is a competent engine builder Ford Xflow/pinto/V6/Vaux ohc <these used to rev to 14000 revs often slagging off the work on the heads that come to him that some people have spent a lot of money on and not getting their "bang for buck".I know its long winded but what I am trying to say is some people out there have used thier motor as a genuine race flint and I think I would rather buy one complete and know its a proper one than skimpy jobs on parts.I know this is jumbled up /late/jd/tired but if you get what I am on about and its the way I would go about it again personally.Phew !!

yeah i have.i have seen and read about the 2ltr conversion with omex 600.thay look and sound nice on tb's.but i would like to keep it simple and neat for the time being.but i do like the way how the zetec fits in nice and theres a mk1 on here with a zetec and the engine bay looks almost wire free.

I didn't say about the zetec because I thought you wanted to keep it as is,but yes zetec is probably a good bet.More bhp straight away with a engine swop and the scope for more plus the costs would be hell of a lot less than uprating your parts
You could get a 2l zetec and box for under £200.It does work out a bit of a no brainer .
