dont know wat its called but it conected to the exhaust manifold on the drivers side, engine 's in a sierra, do i need to keep this or can it be removed? if it needs to stay ,there are pipes coming off it one front one rear, were do these connect to?

Is it the egr? If so people usually weld them up.
