Default mk6 escort question

my wife has a gti escort and as of late the passenger side only foot well seems to have a bit of water in it

not loads but if you push down on the carpet its quite wet

im thinking heater matrix as the water level in the header tanks seems to drop a bit

is the matrix located on that side behind the dash
and
is it a pain in the ares to remove the dash and replace the matrix

there is no holes in the floor and door rubbers are mint

what you thinking ???????????????????

Don't know if this could help but on some car the pipe for the rear washer runs underneath the carpet and in winter the jetts freeze up and the pipe can pop off had this happen to a car of mine a few years back and caused the carpet to get wet.
robably a long shot but thought i would mention it.
