Default Enclosed Air Filter - Turbo Applications

Im having a bit of trouble with the air filter set up on my Corsa. When I first got the car it had the filter mounted directly off the turbo but right behind the rad which is obviusly not ideal due to heat soak etc............

Iv since put some coil wound ducting on and relocated the filter the filter to behind my head light, but its short of space to get the ducting through certain places and its now damaged and has cuts and holes in it which defeats the point of having an airfilter in the first place.

I was wondering how well an enclosed filter straight off the turbo would perform with ducting going from the filter around the radiator and to sit behind my grill above my intercooler? I dont wont to choke the engine by the airfilter not allowing enough air to pass through it at full chat.

Opinions and recomendations please....

will obviously work better than how it was originally but i'd imagine it will still get hot.

Could you get a stainless steel pipe made up to locate the filter where it is at the moment? could get it made in a smaller diameter if thats the problem, and being stainless, nothing will rubb through it.

It will be better but as above it will get hot.. theres not much room in there at all judging by the pics. Get a smaller filter and smaller ducting and relocate it?

how does an air filter suffer from heatsoak? do you just mean it will be getting hot air that's been through the radiator? if so, that's not heat soak.

Any chance of going down towards the OSF of the front bumper and installing an enclosed unit there?

Or you can install an enclosed unit like a BMC near the turbo and have a good air feed coming from the OSF fog light area and since it will all be enclosed all the air picked up will be from wherever you point the air feed. Near the fog light area (not too low mind) will be a good spot.

Correct, it aint heat soak, no idea why I put that

pani_k, there is not alot of room below the chassis leg to get to that sort of area.

This would be so much easier if the turbo was turned around

Not enough room to shove even an air feed tube down there? Enclosed box just where your turbo is plus a feed going somewhere would be good. The filter would suffer some heat soak anyway...it is right next to a hot turbo, manifold, and radiator and when the fan starts it will be blowing hot air over it anyway.

the scooby has a enclosed filter but then is fed from the outside via the offside wing, is this something you can replicate?
