Default All round track tyre!

I was going to get some A048r's on my Pro race 1.2's and some wets on my comps but with the 2011 prices at £242 a tyre for the A048's

http://www.ears.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=102

I think im just going to go for an allround tyre as i carnt justy spending over £1500 on two sets of tyres . The cars going to be used on track and maybe on the road so i want a good all round tyre that can be used on track in the wet and dry.

So give me some ideas

cheers

A048 when they are new are quite good in the wet TBH

But Ive yet to find any tyre that does wet and dry both very well, I dont believe such a thing exists.

i replaced my last set of A048's at the end of the summer with these hankook RS2's on my integra (only 200 bhp). They seem good for a reasonable price, ultra stiff sidewalls similar to a048, but with road biases tread pattern hence ok for winter puddles.

cheap for what they are;

Use a road tyre for wets (goodyear eagle perhaps) and pick up a set of 17inch used slicks of TCS or sellers on ebay. He should be able to get narrowish 17s of the likes of Clios.
Looking at around £150 a set compared to £150 each for A048r's.

He does 18s too. Just have a look on his website.

What size brakes do you have also? Team Dynamics in 17s should clear a 355mm setup depending on physical caliper size.

Another thing to note, where the tyres are 235 wide, Dunlop quote 220mm tread width so its worth doing a bit of homework on what your buying first to make sure it will all fit

I think the porsche cup fronts will fit after a bit of reading up! i have 362mm with the alcon 6pot caliper so 18'' is a mininum. Think i might give the ps3's a go theres a few good storys about them!

I'm in the same boat, but can't use slicks as i want to use them at the ring. I need a 225 or 235 40 18 as I have 8 pots and 380mm discs.

Dunlop/Yoko/Toyo's are all around £250 and I don't think I can justify £1k for 2 or 3 ring trips.
