Con Rod YB question...especially for Karl......
....I would love your serious input here.
What causes a std YB conrod to break?Would 700bhp at a rev limit of 8000rpm just break it thru sheer power?.....As i noticed the arrow ones are rated to 10000rpm,does that mean i dont need em?...Plus how much stronger does shot peening give over a std unit?
I have had Marks advice and if i went his way it wouldnt be my own design

Get some decent rods mate, if you start to get Det for any reason then the last thing you want is to be on rods that are only just good enough.
Plus they are pure porn to look at, heres mine for my mini:

Like Chip said, its det thats gonna be the main killer. At that power, the smallest det and blammo, dead rod, the in cyl pressure when detting is like, 10times more than under normal running IIRC.
Be interesting to try, but if your spending serious money, is it worth the risk as if a rod goes itl take the rest with it!

To get 700bhp you are going to need low compression and a big turbo realistically, its not going to make a very nice road car like that, you would be better off selling the complete built engine and putting a stage 3 one in.

Phil, i thought you were going to be running on road fuel and no nitrous.
You are correct that if you use a boatload of toluene and/or nitrous or similar then you can get away with higher CR.
