any vauxhall techs on here
We have a 55 plate vectra sri cdti and over the last couple of days its been properly stinking inside the car, (that horrible diesel smoke on start up smell) and just noticed tonight its got a missfire upto 2k revs?
just wondered if any vauxhall technicians had an idea.

My merc cdi does the same and it's a leaking injector seat, common on mine.try putting the heating on recirculation to avoid the smell.
Open the bonnet with it running(engine cover removed) and check for leaks or a noise that sounds like Thomas the tank engine,a sure sign there's an injector fault somewhere.

What's posted above could also be correct, although I doubt you'd get the missfire then.

Does the misfire go when the engine is warm?
If the engine is running fine when out on the road have you noticed a lack of power below 2000RPM?
Also have or can you do an injector leak off test?

Has it got starship miles??
There is a software update for these, small fuel quantity adjustment.
Plenty of pos causes, injectors, rail etc...
No EML on i take it??

What you could do is unclip the leak off pipes and clamp off the pipe that goes back to the fuel system and see what one lets more or less fuel out then the others.
Now if the misfire is only there when the engine is cold this may be "low voltage in the common rail" There is a VX field remedy for this but there is nothing you can do as it says "explain to the customer the situation and that its normal" No parts to be replaced.
I personally have only come across the above on "6" chassis cars as the later ones have a new common rail.
On the Astra H there is a way of getting the fault codes to come up on the dash by holding down the brake and throttle and turning on the ignition to pos 2. Where the miles are displayed if there is no DTC's the dials will say ECN00000 but if there is it will be for instance ECN04005a (common code for the DTH and means EGR valve insufficient flow)
Im not sure the Vectra will work the same but its worth a go.
