Its not a "true HD" panel that one.

What I am saying in English is its not top , top end.

It can do a maximum of 720 verticle lines when the best to 1080 lines.

this SONY is a bit more , but a blinding tele

Where as THIS panna is a little cheaper , and damn fine to boot.

Both of the teles I linked to are 1080p , or true HD

Do you have a budget in mind ?

£564 for THIS one - its lg , so it will be fine

Where as THIS Samsung is a little more at £842.xx but its 3D ready.

Panna make THIS one , it would have my money if I was after a 50 inch NON 3D tele. £749

You are correct. Sky HD only runs at 1080i

BluRay has the potential of 1080p

Sky can output at 1080i or 720p, but the content is natively 1080i, so you're best off with a tv that has 1080 lines.

If you want the best, look at the Panny TX-P50G20B or (even better) the TX-P50V20B.

For good strong output at the expense of a little accuracy, look at the Samsung plasmas.

The LG's a good value but a little over-enhanced i.e. panel isn't brilliant, software makes it look better.

IIRC S20's and G10's share the same panel.

If you can stretch to it, go for a Panasonic TXP50G20 - if you must have a 50"

I've got the 42" version and the native picture quality knocks spots off most of the others. It's black levels are immense as are the smoothness of panning shots. (Great for the sci-fi blackness and footie)

I've got one of them, fucking mint. Couldn't afford the VT20, way too much.
