Ripspeed headunits have a shockingly high rate of returns due to faults, I used to work for halfords, steer clear of the ripspeed shite please! caraudiodirect.co.uk often have good deals. Stick with a decent brand if you can, Pioneer or Alpine make some nice stuff in that price bracket.

Halfords do actually have some alright deals on at the moment. I've just bought a Parrot bluetooth handsfree iPod/iPhone head unit for £179.99 from their website. Retail is meant to be around £290. There are people selling at more like the £210 mark on ebay but Halfords sale was still cheaper and it's from a big name which I would hope means any problems get sorted out quicker/easier.

+1

Just hunt out the online companies for the best deal - caraudiodirect are v good.

Alternatively pop down to London - take a stroll down Tottenham Court Road and blag a great deal from the numerous shops along there and nail them down to an absolute minimum price - they match and beat the best online prices so cant do better than that.

Steer well clear of Halfrauds anyway - way too expensive even on their so called deals and defo dont go nowhere near the ripspeed branded shite!!

Point proven here - from the example given by Frogford the Sony MEX-BT3800U is £132.86 at Halfrauds - but same unit from Amazon (of all people) is £108.40 delivered !!!

Remember - there is always cheaper than Halfrauds !!!

I like Alpine head units personally, I used to have one in the Evo which was bought for 100 quid new online iirc. I don't think you'll be able to buy one that doesn't play MP3's these days.

Halfords??? Best off going to a proper car Hi-Fi shop instead of a chain that has spotty teens serving who think Max Power is a bible and think th epinnicle of motoring is their mums Corsa that's parked at the front of the store after the staff discount has been abused on wanker lights and stick on vents.

For your cash I would get something like;

or
