its a course pal, usually 2-3 days, mine was.

very easy though.

Your usually taken to a test center, and sat down with a couple of people the same as yourself, then its a few videos to watch, then sit down and talk about a few things, then a practical viewing of the forklift ( counter balance i did)

You have to do checks and remember them

Then the 2nd day you have a theory test which is v simple, after youve passed that youve got your practical test which takes about 40 mins, its all simple though.

Theres plenty of courses you can take, scissor lift, counter balance, bendi, etc

900ss the bendi is forklifts that are electric and usually found in warehouses, they have a really good turning circle, counter balance are the most commo type of forklift youl find, a scissor lift is basically a electric lift that is moveable and can get up to 50ft tall

Counter balance licence is dead easy, the only shitty bit for me was that I had to do it over two 12 hour days.

as said pretty much straight forward just listen to what the instructor is say etc
in your practical your allow so many marks cant remember how many,
but most instructor's will let re-do your practical if you fail the 1st time

recently done my refresher courses on counter-balance and 4-way combi truck
and they where harder the the oringal test due to bad habbits lol

Did mine 8 years ago now and its a piece of piss,I'm sure the instructor told me that he's never actually failed anyone!!!

Had to laugh,i drove the forklift for years before I had a licence and the only reason I went on it was because our union rep was a driver and pulled me one day for no licence.

Anyway, the training guy turns up at 9am and asks where the forklift is explaining that he's not insured to drive it,so he asks me to go and get it!!

I said to him,is this a trick question and he says no,go and get it I'm not insured!!!!

The whole things a bit of a joke really fella, absolute piece of piss!!!

Yea youd need counter balance, picking up cars/vans like scrap yard work can be proper ropey though, theres a local place where they have a 5 tonne cat flt and they pick up 2 cars at a time, they bounce all over the place, thats with 7 foot long legs as well!

So simple.

I had never drove one before Sept of this year, 3 days later i walked out with both counterbalance and reach truck licences. And none of them were a full day!!!

Having held my RTITB instructors licence for ten years the main thing I am looking for is observation. Everything else will get better with practice! ( I;e doing the job) If people can't be bothered to look when they are being examined what are they going to be like on their own. Good Luck!
