Default Anyone put 18's on a vw beetle?

Thinking of buying the missus a set of 18" alloys for her vw beetle for Xmas. Anyone done this and will they fit straight on with no hassle?

if your talking about a new shape beetle then its no bother. There's one near me with mk4 r32 wheels on. 225/40/18 tires you'll need

18s go straight on mate you will proberbly need to lower it though.

heres a pic with 18's and lowered 50mm


pic of it with 19's and still didnt have trouble with clearence


but this is what it looked like before lowering


handled pants and blew around loads at motorway speeds if there was abit of wind lol

Thanks for the replies
Ordered wheels and lowering springs for her today. Only went for a 30mm drop to keep car driveable for her as there's loads of speedhumps around here

this was my wifes old beetle,lowered 30 mm and with 18" r32 wheels.

First cosworth did it affect the handling much with the bigger wheels and the 30mm drop? I hope it ain't too harsh to drive for our lass lol.

bigger wheels seem to kill wheel bearings on beetles, we kept our on stock 17" and dropped it on coil-overs and that knocked a wheel bearing out in 5k afew other had issues aswell in one of the new beetle club iirc
