It certainly looks good from the pics. On first thoughts I was warey at such a low price, but I was forgetting how cheap the early model Evos now are. Makes you wonder why Saph prices can be almost double!
I'd love a 5 or a 6 - they are bargins at the moment. Can't think of a more capable car you could get for the same money.

as said rust is an issue but no worse than any car of that age if left unchecked.ayc problems are mostly due to switch faliure but roger rally has an uprated type to cure this.i did all the servicing on all my evos except the ayc which needs a mutt2 .evo specialists are all over the place and an ayc change if i remember the last one was no more than 50 pounds.outer panels always seem to last well so a mint looking evo must still be checked thoroughly underneath.i absolutely love em even though your local petrol station staff will be on 1st name terms very quickly

Just to go picture mad.
Here is mine when I bought it. Little did I know the can of worms it was hiding.

And the last time it was actually on the public highway

I get it back on Friday, new MR turbo, apexi exhaust, uprated and strengthened bottom end, HKS boost controller and remap from CPR. Pushing about 370bhp. Normally I would be like a 5 year old, but like I said earlier I hate this fucking thing and will be glad when its sold.

collierm - surely it would be worth getting a bit of enjoyment back from the car out after all the money/bits you put on there?
For around town driving i find the twin plate clutch' a bit tiresome which you need when going 400bhp+ or like to occasionally launch the car.
If there was a organnic clutch that could take the abuse the evo would be a more appealing road car...to me anyway.
Apologies to the op if this is going a bit off track

I'm going to organise viewing it soon.and my best mate owns a tuning garage so he will be coming with me. But I'm In Scunthorpe, north lincs and he is I'n Southampton so i just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing before we travel. I think we will have to meet up somewhere I'n the middle. I'll do a proper hpi before I travel

Seems cheap, looks good from the pics but as we all know it's only until you're standing there you'll know.
It's a bit odd letting it go for under £5k as black 5's Normally fetch a premium over the usual White ones.

ok lets put the record straight , evo 5 are 6 are very similar difference being front spoiler and rear back end,but just about the same car... if anything the evo 5 is better looking by a whisker..lol.. as for handling and performance there awsome they can outperform supercars around tracks as clarkson showed , if anyone has driven one thats unsteady its cus there is a big issue with it.. they put the evo 6 up against the evo 9 around the track and the evo 6 was faster, things to watch for is first rust you need to get right underneath it and get scraping and banging around , take someone who nows loads abouts evo,s are you might buy a bad one, listen for a clicking noise around bends as this could be the transfer bolts on the way out and can be expensive! a good e5 should fetch around £5, to £6500 if its cheap walk away , i think the e5 and e6 are the best evo,s ever made as they look awsome , dont buy the first one you look at have a good look around there are loads for sale bad and good and you will also be at the petrol station all the time they drink juice like fuck big time

Morto
I don't know about it being an issue just because its not as grippy at low speeds. Mine is bang on and in very good condition underneath, AA inspected and all OK. It's just an opinion that at low speeds, they don't feel (to me) planted and inspire confidence. As an example, going round a roundabout, it felt like it had a tendency to want to push its nose wide and I had to put more lock on to get it round. My Impreza never felt like that.
Plus, the one big advantage of the 6 over the 5 is the so-called 'rod job' which can be done on them and not on the 5.
