Right, I have the original 60GB version which has been perfect in the 3 years i have had it, except for fan noise level. Its just too loud for me and after 3 years i have had enough and decided to buy a slim console which is quieter.

Question is - where is best to get one from and what can i expect to pay?

Im not fussed how big the hard drive is and it will eventually get replaced for a larger one anyway once the warranty is out.

Anyone got one they are wanna sell?

the Blu Ray quality isnt as good on the slim ones though, the Old style PS3 have a very good Blu Ray player in them

Our local Audio shop say you would have to spend around £500-£600 to get a better Blu Ray player alone!

The blu ray quality is the same, the only difference is the slim's loading time is slighty longer but you couldn't tell unless you had them side by side

Have heard about cheaper components being used for the newer ones. Also the slim don't play super audio cd's, but that don't bother me as want it for gaming really.

Didn't know u could tell the difference in Bly ray quality. Ideally wanted to pick one up on my way home from work but play seem to offer the most value for money.

Why not just swap the fan for a quieter one? there are plenty about.

The fan has 3 stages, in a really hot room it will kick into stage 3 after a couple of mins on Black Ops or similar game, mine's on the windowsill at the moment with the window slightly open so it's stone cold

I wouldnt want to change the fan just in case i break it

If i do open it up it will get dusted off using the air dust off spray you get for keybopards and will then replace the hard drive for a bigger version.

Still thinking i might head to sainsburys and see if they still have them at 200 quid and it will be an on the spot decision to buy one or not - dependant upon how tight i feel lol

Just to add my bedroom gets fairly hot and the window is on the other side of the room so no chance of ps3 sitting there

Good luck finding one Ran!!! I've been to loads of Sainsburys and they've ran out of the 199 quid ones!!!

Just gonna be patient and get one from Amazon for £229.99 I think

Asda are doing the 160gb with fifa 2011 for £199 or Amazon and Play are doing the 320gb with Gran Turismo 5 collectors edition for £274.99 which is a bargin, u can use quidco on theses too.

i dont want to get rid of my 60GB as it is the best version. Im gonna try and blow the dust out and hoover it but in the meantime i have moved it off my desk and put it on the floor where there is less heat and it seems to run a little cooler
