The next fad is already starting from what i see-
People realising there is a point where the amount of enjoyment your getting dont justify the stupid money your spending, and you either sell up totally n get somthing thats more VFM, or downsize to a more useable n sensible spec.
Fair play, its exiting for all of us to see all these crazy cars people are making, but more n more people are realising for the money n sacrifices they making its not worth it when they think of what else they couldve done with their time n money.
That and autronic
And hopefully if people got any sence- Turbo V8 conversions like whats so common in the USA now, far far better VFM and finally the performance to piss TOTB...

I was looking at going 600+bhp, but the extra cost and reliability issues that come with it are far too much to really justify the extra spend over 550 BHP imho
doing a set of followers every 8000 miles dosn't really appeal too much
, and 500BHP is sooo easy to get at a decent price now, I think that you will see lots of gt30/35 and 1000cc injector conversions as they give awsome results for the cash ![Smokin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smokin.gif)
just out of interest, people running 600+bhp what does the car rev to, and how much extra did it cost to go that bit more??? any info most appreciated

6oo bhp in a cossie is about reliablility rather than just 600bhp
also think people now want controllable power rather than a nice framed power graph for 800bhp on a car that does fook all then comes to life when ya already at the junction
think my next idea for my car is to fit my boost controller/rebuild bottomend to a lower down torque and quicker responce to reduce lag and try to allow the car to still do 30 to 140 very quickly before i lose power
aftermarket ecu's are the next cossie thing aswell as boost controllers being used to control te power more
oh and IMA conversions via email too

Last time i was at santapod the timing gear acknowledged my nitrous as making extra bhp, and the road always seems to as well.
Still assuming that nitrous really doesnt add anything to the engines bhp figure, that means a guy i know has run a 11.7 second quarter with only 120bhp, thats gotta be some sort of record.
Cant see what difference it makes where you get BHP from, providing it ends up at the wheels it counts.

Oh, i get it, you cant count nitrous bhp when bragging in the pub or on the internet, is that what you mean?
Personally couldnt give a stuff about all that bollocks, torque is for using not just for talking about

in dont care if it has nitrous or not, can it do the power for longer than 30 mins or not !!!!!, if not then fit a bigger turbo ( or smaller wastgate pipes

chip i know what your trying to say but lets look at another scenario.
you commision tuner x to build you a 700 bhp engine and when you pick it up and find its a 500 bhp engine with 200 shot of nitrous are you going to be doing cartwheels full of joy, or pissed off that you only have 500 bhp engine that relies on nos to make the power you want.

ian m, wouldnt know mate i dont go and hand people over loads of money to build me an engine i build one that does what i want.
But looking at the other side of what you are saying, if you wanted a 700bhp engine for occasional use at that power level (lets face it there isnt often a chance you can use that sort of power on the road, its best kept for the pod, anyone who thinks different hasnt veen in a car with that much power on the road) and you got given one with 500+200 it would be FAR more tractable lower down, and last far longer than a "real 700bhp" motor, so personally i would much sooner have the 500+200 one than the pretty much unusable 700bhp one that wouldnt last 5 minutes.

have to agree with chip on this one. I dont really see nitrous as cheating as loads of people run it on the road and have it in a bottle in their car i.e. easily accessible. never liked the idea of race fuel though cause at the end of the day, how many people run nitrous on the road and how many people run race fuel on the road?? cant go into your local shell and fill up with 110 ron

jap crap, i couldnt agree more, i have a 77lb nitrous bottle in my garage, so its easier for me to fill up on nitrous than it is on normal fuel let alone race fuel (although admittedly ive got a few gallons of that as well), so really cant see that its such an issue to refill like some people make out.
damn site cheaper to use it occasionally when you need it than to have to run on race fuel the whole time just in case you want to boot it as well.

no ian m you cant, but its VERY easy to store a few months worth of nitrous at home (i do it) but i couldnt possibly carry enough race fuel to last me that long.
also with race fuel you have to have it in your tank being wasted the whole time just in case you want to boot it, where as with nitrous you spend nothing until you want the extra power

also, its not like you can just throw 300bhp of nitrous on your yb lump and make 500bhp all day every day. the engine has to be able to take the power or it will do one. so if its built to take the power, who cares if some of the boost comes from turbo and some comes from nitrous....
otherwise, EVERfucker would be lauging of rebuilds and just putting silly amounts of nitrous on their small power cossie engines...

You can make more power on nitrous from any given engine than you can on a turbo alone, but yeah what you are saying is more or less right.
On any engine if you remove the turbo and fit a smaller one plus nitrous you will be able to safely run more power without detonation than you could before.

At the end of the day, nitrous is one of those things that some people wont want to use and others will want to use, but the ones who dont use it will always have to accept being at a massive disadvantage, as more and more people start to use it the ones who dont are just going to have to accept either spending far far more money on their engines, or finishing second.
