ive tried to install them but everytime i turn it back on the new update icon keeps showing on the shut down button.

every time you shut down it tries to install but it fails. i tried it with my internet security turnt off but no joy.

im running windows 7.

is there a way to cancel the update and remove it to stop it doing the same evrytime i shut it down?

Try downloading the package and then installing it. It can be found here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

If you havent already got one create yourself a Setups folder on the C: drive and save it to there.

Do a search for a file on your computer called update.log. Its where all the info about Windows Updates gets placed. Open it and look for the time when you installed the update. It should tell you a reason or error code why it failed.

Or you can check your event viewer, system log I think is where the info is also written. Start->Run->eventvwr and click OK.
