my laptop keeps saying there is new updates to install,
ive tried to install them but everytime i turn it back on the new update icon keeps showing on the shut down button.

every time you shut down it tries to install but it fails. i tried it with my internet security turnt off but no joy.

im running windows 7.

is there a way to cancel the update and remove it to stop it doing the same evrytime i shut it down?

I know on XP you can go into the update page through the security centre and redownload any failed updates. ould be worth a try.

try doing the updates online if they still fail. turn the automatic updates of and it should be fine.

i just did the above, it failed again.

i just looked at the review and it says its for windows xp, im running windows 7 so why do i keep picking it up?

its some sort of security update.

is there a way i candisable the update so it doesnt keep flashing up?

Try downloading the package and then installing it. It can be found here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

If you havent already got one create yourself a Setups folder on the C: drive and save it to there.

Do a search for a file on your computer called update.log. Its where all the info about Windows Updates gets placed. Open it and look for the time when you installed the update. It should tell you a reason or error code why it failed.

Or you can check your event viewer, system log I think is where the info is also written. Start->Run->eventvwr and click OK.

ive changed the settings to allow me which updates to install,
