Ginge, id love too.... but what happens if i put a gate up and the council ends up replacing the garages... iv then bought a house that dose not serve my purpose and have nowhere to put the car... id rather not put it in one of the garages as id want it as close/secure to the house as possible!!

I can't believe you can buy houses that nice in the south east of England for those sort of prices, looks to me a total bargain,I had that down as more of a Ł265-275 k minimum!!!

So,who ACTUALLY owns the garages that were originally knocked down?if it's the council then I'm almost certain they'd be happy to rent them to you for about Ł6 a week for the three of them?If they belong to a private house(unlikely) then you could approach them about buying/renting.

I'd be pretty confident the council would be glad to get something for them rather than the nothing they've clearly been receiving for the last x number of years!!!

Totally agree with building something up with a door either end, added security again.

Garden looks top on that house, well most everything he's done, going to save you plenty of cash and not be wire brushing your stair rails to remove old paint on a Saturday night like I am

On the original question, I have tried to buy garages from councils before and it's difficult. They don't really deal with requests, and sell when they want to sell, via auctions.

Yes mate they belong to the council, the guy with the house rents one across the way for Ł7.50 a week...

im just worried that in say a couple of years time they decide to have a change of plans and either put garages back up or worst case decide to put a couple of houses there???

Me and the other half were buying a run down bungalow that had a domed steel garage/workshop in the garden, paid for everything inc full structual and was just waiting fr their solicitors to finialize paperwork to be told they refused to represent them and it got repossesed at the last min!! Pissed off is an understatment!! Wil try find a pic of the garage, was the reason we wanted it as would have been mint for spraying/working on cars.

Well sadly we have had to let this one go, as it seems to much of an issue to gain access to the back garden for a garage and parking..... GUTTED and even if we could there is something in the deeds to say we cannot have any building at all.. temporary or otherwise

been to view a few more but man this looking for properties is hard work!!!
