Doug,
If you car is wandering at speed, it indicates the geometry is set to either parallel or toe out. Dial in 2mm Toe-in on the front and it will be completely stable at speed .

Given how the Cosworth transmission is rear biased, it is just as oversteery and fun in the wet, as a 2wd is in the dry (accept you still make good progress as well ). Now given that most of the year the UK is blighted with rain, I know which is more fun AND safe .

I realise that this will shock all you fair-weather boys, but Cosworths are supposed to be driven, not sat in the garage waiting for the odd dry day we might get if we're lucky .

lol, this comes up often, rainbird speaks sense. for me to have a 3dr it would have to have the 500 badge or at least just the bits.tbh though i prefered the way my 4x4 saff drove to my escort.
if i buy another cossie at any point after selling the escos it will be a saff again tbh

Re the 3dr or Esc cos comparison;it would have to be the 3dr for me,its just more special and looks more cohesive.

I also prefer the drive, you sit lower and the steering and gearbox are much nicer.

For me, having never owned either, it would have to be an EsCos. Reason being it has, since the age of 5, been the one I have always hankered after. Was a "supercar" I grew up with on my wall, watched compete at rallies etc etc. The 3 door, although I do find them awesome, are just not at the same level of desirablility for me.

I'll never be happy until I've scratched the itch and bought a red large turbo EsCos - hoping that will be within the next few years
