been there and done both the escos is lovely for just the odd sunday blast and pottering about as said before the gearboxs are like chocolate so if you did have one the convert it to 2wd and its the best of both worlds....
i had a lot more fun im my old 3dr and im picking my new 3dr up tonight althought if i found a escos shell in red at the right price the 3dr would be reshelled into it lol

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I've had all the different cossie's, my 3 door was a really clean one with about 340 bhp, loved the looks but it was no where near as nice to drive as a 4wd Saphire or Escos' and it felt like an old car. Also once the boost is turned up a lot of the time you cant use the power due to being rwd, so by the time its found some grip a 4wd car will be long gone. OK it can be fun but if its wet/slippy and you are trying to make progress it just becomes a pain in the neck.
My Escort had similar sort of power and koni's etc so was a lot quicker most of the time, the thing I didnt like about it was it was horrible inside, got to be one of the worst interiors ever (and it was a nice one with leather recarro's) also the driving possition is crap compared to a sierra. Also felt a bit of a t1t driving it as it attracts the wrong sort of attention.
Replaced it with an Evo which was miles better in every respect (except depreciation, where an escort is money in the bank except for repair bills).
Bizarely my favourite cossie was a 4x4 saph on greens etc, handling was not far off an escos' and nicer to sit in, didnt attract much attention but was a properly quick car (and cheap).

lol, thanks Carlo.
Martyn,
imo, i would love to of kept your car but it is 2wd...not for me sorry.
ideally, if it was me in your situation lol, i would 4x4 the 3 door, piss easy to do.
the car you have has had everything done to it,all that is needed in a cossie....why get rid???
i love the look of the rs500 cars and i would deffo consider the 4x4 option, easy convert it back too when finished or unhappy with it lol.
good luck Martyn.

good man! me too :')
i prefer the look of the 3dr. i think its far more iconic.
i also prefer the interior. think im the only one, but i like the sapphire and 3dr dash.
tbh i like the sapphire the most, i have a 2WD saph on the wish list.
drive an escort mate, then decide.

i know what you mean Martyn, sounds as though your mind is made up lol.
i regreted getting rid of your car but things happen and i'm really happy with what i have now...way better than any escort i have had, possibly any car....lol.
be very careful looking for an escort Martyn as they are rot boxes., look up the buying details for the escort and what to look for when buying.
Martyn,
more than welcome mate BUT i'm of to Scotland working on Sunday and won't be back until its finished....hopefully be done by Christmas.
