Default BMW E92 325d and 330d

Evening all,

I'm starting to look at these as a possible next car. Fancy something a bit more sophisticated and classy so looking at a E90 M Sport Coupe particularly a 325d or 330d. Friend of mine has a manual 330d convertible hard top absolutely fully loaded to the rafters and I really really liked it. Most of my worries about it went straight out the window it actually sounds real nice, pulls like a train and looks the bollocks from everywhere you look at it from and is also real comfy. Now as far as I am aware, the 325d M Sport has the same 3.0 diesel turbo as the 330d but is detuned. Now I've trawled over the net to find differences between the engines and all I've got is a load of guesses and wild stabs in the dark. From all the crap I've sifted through it seems that the only difference is the map and the injectors. The turbos have the same part number so for all the people that said they have different turbos I don't think that is the case.

What would people think about this then? I'm basically looking for a E92 M Sport coupe don't fancy a convertible too expensive for me. What do you guys reckon?

Cheers!

They're nice, my old dear has an E92 320d M-Sport and its a great car... bit harsh over shite roads but its on 19" wheels with IIRC 30-profile tyres on the back?!

For all things E90-series then you should talk to the resident Bimma expert, Vrooommmm Ptttssssshhhh, he's riding dirty these days, cruising the streets of Glasvegas ignoring the haters and pulling roger moores in his manly Ice Blue Coup.

Cheers,
Grant

He's more than enough reason for me not to warrant going for a 335d if I could afford it but a more deciding factor for me is you can only get a 335d with an autobox. Me no likey!

What you mean is that they are a bit too expensive for the ford masses

Your a c*nt

and it's Bluewater FYI

I bet you steal your mums at the weekend now the Audi's gone

Great cars, I've not had mine long but no probs so far. I dont hear of any problems with the diesel's only the 335i twin turbo's seem to have their fair share of issues. personally i'd try and get one with lower miles as i've replaced couple of turbo's and electronic wastegates on the now old shape 525/535D's...but thats not to say they are all the same.

Have a look on http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=22

decent forum for info.

I bought the 325d, Like you I wanted to find out the difference on the cars. I too found they had the same turbos as the 330d. Mine worked out cheaper for a 325d than the 330d by nearly £2000.

If you remap the 325 they are still have less power than the remapped 330 so I think its got to be something else.

Mine is remapped and its a lot of fun and very smooth, coming from a code:red Focus ST its not that slow to be honest.

Hahaha, don't make me put a post up about you mocking charity and laughing in the face of those trying to do their bit for a worthy cause...

Not at all mate, 'Bluewater' is as rugged as they come. It conjurs up images of Beer, Braveheart and Rocky chopping wood in Russia.

Never cruised up Sucky St!! I've only ever been on that street chopping piss, trying to mack onto the roger moores that are ready for action...

Cheers,
Grant

Ahh interesting in regards the code red ST because that's still one of the cars on my list as an option. A mapped 325d has slightly more power than a standard 330d but like you said depends on spec and interior.

No probs and cheers

If I was speccing one, MUST have things would be:

DAB (As Analogue radio switch off is set for 2015)
Bluetooth
I-drive

other than that, things that are 'cool' to have would be:
Heated seats are a bonus with leather in the cold weather, but not essential
Extended light package is pretty cool, but again not essential
M sport bodykit, makes them look a load better

xenons std on all E92's (coupe's)

Hang off for one with the spec/colour choice you want, there's loads out there!
