Default E36 GURUS/ mot men

mats e36 has just failed it's mot as the abs light is always on.
what's the cause as a guess? nearly new brakes, can the bulb be just taken out ahemm

ah, thats fucked that then. he rang me earlyer about it. not long had new brakes so cant understand whats wrong

probably something like a dodgy wheel speed sensor, You can usually find a dodgy sensor with a multi metre, but a diagnostic scanner is a lot faster

Take the two screws that hold the dash clocks in and bridge the ABS light to the oil light or whatever other light comes on and off when you first turn on the ingnition.

Link the ABS light to the brake pad warning light on the E36 and then it goes off after the required "time period"

Remember, there is no requirement on the MOT to actually test the operation of the ABS, just that the warning system is working (IE - the dashboard light)

very true, but a decent tester will spot the oil light bodge, you have a good chance with the pad warning light though

i'll give that a go mate, trying to talk him into keeping it but the daft cunt wants to scrap it
