Default anti lag and launch control, really worth it?

ive been pricing up some chips lately and i took a look on the msd website as my last chip was from there but then looking at the costs with what injectors, clsoed loop and if i add anti lag and launch control im looking at £700 ish just for chip

so is the anti lag and launch control worth having or is it just good for a gimmick, the car wont be used on track but will be used on the strip and it will only be around 360 ish so nothing powerful

Yes, some lc/anti-lag can give you full boost at idle.

whys that?

id put money on most people not being able to make our als\lc actually work properly and adjust its perameters to suit the engine spec..

launch control doesnt work at idle, it operates at WOT and we choose the engines limited speed

i have them both on my autronic sm4 anti lag is a bit of a waste of time on a road car but launch control is very good gets me off the line much faster and i have full boost straight away with limited revs till im moveing and take my finger off the button much better than leaveing a big cloud of smoke and too big black lines!

als will give positive plenum pressure at idle, but launch control doesnt operate at idle, usually at around 4-5k rpm...

Anti lag is good for making loads of noise, making people pull funny shapes at the side of the road and drawing attention to yourself just for those factors I'd say get it

launch control don't know, don't use mine

Can launch control be fitted to any chip/map?
Or do MSD have to remap your whole car to activate it?

Hi Stu
Martin has built my engine and is going to map it for me, it's just i'd like launch control is not possible just to add it to somebody else map?
Cheers Rich

Afraid not sorry mate.
The problem is Martin will warranty your chip for life and I suspect your engine for a period too, as we would had we built it, but we would both quite rightly void the warranty on each of those items if we found out someone else had been in the ECU changing the chip running it all because if it blows up, who exactly is going to accept the blame?.

For the price of it I'd get aftermarket ECU with all the features, did have it all and it was good fun though, just have to be very careful with the ALS!

Going aftermarket now
