Default Decent turbo diesel's for 5 - 7k

Had two ST220's over the last few of years but gettin fed up with fuel bill. The missus use's it monday to friday and only does 100 miles if that at the costof £40 sittin in traffic/short journeys.

St tdci is an obvious replacement but what do other makers offer in that price range?? Only ever been a ford man apart from my pug hdi.

Needs to be powerfull, decent mpg, and good all round spec.

Cheers, Jim.

Ive just sold my Leon 2004 96k miles 1.9tdi se in silver FSH 2 owners over 50mpg (remapped by MSD ) for £3200, thats the differance you get more car for your money with the SEAT equivilant than with any other VAG brand

the leon fr is an awesome car, and a stupid amount of car for the money. a mate of mine had one, 150bhp standard, and the neck end 300nm torque iirc. they look the part aswel, look like the leon cupra r

was that a remapped 130 on the rollers?

I had mine done when i bought it, never bother with the rollers though, always wondered what torque it had, as it pulled like a train - even with a 5 meter caravan on the back

the later platform that Golf 5 was used for Audi s-line and for 2006 model on Leon is far superior to the early models in putting the power down and keeping it there - even more so in the wet !!

e320 cdi mercedes, fast, good on fuel and comfy as anything, and you get a mercedes to park on the drive, i had always been a ford person, but bought an AMG as a run around and that was me converted, still love fords for playing with, but for all round use daily and service from time to time, the merc is damn good, thats why so many are taxis is so many parts of the world, get one with a good spec and your laughing
