With any cooler there will always be a differential between the inside temp and the outside temp, with a charge cooler you get this step up in temperature twice not once, so it has inherent disadvantages in that respect, but on the other hand it adds capacity to the cooling system so if you have a shorterm spike in temp it damps it out well.
So there isnt really a straightforward answer IMHO.
Ive got a charge cooler on mine just because I dont have the space to run an intercooler anywhere near the engine.

Hi pete,
build is comming ok bit slower than I want but hey
that's life
most of engine bay done just modifying the wings
for the oil and turbo coolers
still having trouble getting a throttle
for the hart plenum :-(

no mate, i was talking about both. if you place your filter in a hot area of the engine bay it will suffer from heat soak meaning the intercooler has got to disipate more heat which it cat do so up go your temps. even more important on an n/a, such as mine, car as theres no cooler.

heat soak is when you stop the engine or the airflow and the heat from the whole engine/transmission mass and coolant circuit soaks into other components.
