Default Crackle paint - Fao all users (twins etc)

How is the best finished achieved when using crackle paint, should/can it be built up in layers?

I've painted a few bits and it seems rather pants.

cheers

Heavy coats to start ,get it all covered ,then heat up with hot air gun ,takes a little while, then it will start to crakle ,then i dust a coat on and this makes it really crakle ,keep the heat on

I did some bit's before and they looked arse, when i did a YB rocker i put it in a heated booth over night and it came out really good - i put a think layer to start then topped up but i believe heat is where the difference in finish is.

If its just polished use some red scotch and rub it all over to dull it ,if its chromed you will have to attack it with the scurf wheel on the grinder

cheers for the quick responses,

I'll be doing the rocker cover this weekend, I've got plenty of those floodlight heaters, i think i'll put them on whilst painting to provide heat.

cheers
