cheers lads im on my phone at the mo so can't see pics in much detail but will look again when im home.

basically im trying to see if there is a rubber bush between the prop/diff on a 2wd.

as minw doesn't have one. its possibly the prop bearing that's fooked. how easy can you get a new one tabetha? and how hard to fit etc?

I will check all bolt tighness too lol.

cheers, dan

Which beam you using Coley? And there is no bush between the doff and prop, do you have a vibration then? Checked your diff oil?

If there is a rubber bush then southwalesprops.co.uk will have these no doubt, but can't recall one.

Mines nowt special, a bit in bits at the mo, me F1 fabricator is making the lugs for hydraulic clutch conversion at mo, pick up bell housing wednesday all being well.
It's very tidy(if dirty) looking mercury grey 2wd sapphy, well some of us have to have the best colour!!
Just making me triangulated rear strut brace at the moment, instead of the inferior turret to turret ones, but bit busy underside for the bolts to pass through boot floor, as got tow bar and 2mm adjustable rear roll bar there along with poly mount.
Mates baking a CARBON SWEDISH/ish PLENUM for me, he knows about carbon I don't know jack, be a bit of experiment with thickness etc though.

mr c, its got a litre of fresh oil in there.

I don't have a rubber bush, but sounds like they don't use them.

one thing I have noticed is that when the car is on its wheels you can push it ok. but jack it up with the rear wheels off the ground and its very difficult to even turn them a little.

does anyone know the measurements of the diff bolt holes for a 2wd, as i belive i have been sold a 4x4 beam, 4x4 diff, 4x4 shafts, 4x4 hubs, propper 3dr swing arms and arb.

i know the 2wd diff is 7.5" dia accross the shafts, so i could just measure that lol, but i think that the 2wd is also a bit wider than the 4x4.

these are the only pics i can find of my stuff.

Did you check the inner cv bolts were tight homie?only problem I've found before now.

As for bushes, when I took the 2wd prop off,I undid the rear 4 15mm bolts and the two bolts holding the bearing carrier and out she came.refit reverse of removal etc.

On the 4x4 it was the same to get off but a nightmare to put back as the prop has a keyway on it that needs to be exactly aligned, which is really awkward.I then noticed there was a nylon splined end piece about 1" long which kind of aided putting it back in.there was a very fine threaded nut that adjusted the slack to aid with refitting as well,I dont remember that on the 2wd?

The only way I could see how to do it was to remove the front section of the prop which was held on by 3 nut and bolt through jobbies.....which turned out to be a mistake as they seem to be held into the doughnut under tension meaning I couldn't get them back into the doughnut thing as the bolt pcd was now too small!!!!fun and games, had to use a g clamp to tighten it too slide the bolts through individually and then put it all back together!!!fucking pain in the arse!!!

cheers lads.

this morning i checked the inner and outer cv bolts were 40lbft, which they are now. were pretty much anyway.

checked diff bolts, all tight

checked prop bearing carrier bolts, tightened those a bit. and found that i could move the prop about 5mm by pushing it in the bearing.....

and on idle it squeeks from there, so im leaning towards it maybe being the prop bearing.

can these be got new? or just chance it with a 2nd hand prop?

also took it for a little lash up the road earlier to see if could hear/feel any bad vibrations, but didnt go too far as i was scared it would break down

when it came on boost tho.... fooooooooook me

i need to learn to change gear faster lol

coley, i might pop out in a min with the tape measure lol

The lock tab on the side of the diff is also in a different position on the 7".

Looking at the side of the doff 7" would be 10 Oclock , 71/2" would be 8 Oclock.

joy, cheers neil.

so i need:

2wd diff
2wd beam
2wd shafts
2wd hubs

is that right? as i can use the swingarms and arb, as they are supposedly 3dr as they have the wider arb.

thats what you get for trusting PF members when you buy stuff
