Hi guys,

A few questions about the focus ST , you may be able to help with

1) what do people think about this example... i think it looks good -- http://www.revitupuk.com/car.php?id=335

(Just want some opinions before i call up and arrange viewing etc)

2) How reliable are they with 25k on the clock? anything worth looking out for?

3) has anyone bought one on finance? if so did you manage to get a good deal?

Thanks for your help
J

Looks good that one! Only issues with them are alternators failing and a diaphragm inside the oil filter housing splits.

I've done about 10k in mine now and never had a problem. To be honest in standard form it did feel a bit sluggish, but a remap, big filter and intercooler soon fixed that!

Great cars. Reliable go anywhere do anything car. Re map and intercooler is a must, performance is piss poor in comparison. Honestly you would not believe the difference!

had mine 3 years now, just turned 29k, had a issue with the gearbox at 13k, but that was swapped on warranty

still really enjoy it, apart from the front tyre wear

mine had 55000 on it. i was the first in the world to have the ecu bugger up so they told me any way it was the only bother i had with the car. done that at about 10000 miles. i started to tune mine after that .mine was 306 bhp.

Which tyres are you using? I had a set of new Conti sports on it when I bought the car and they were shagged in 6000 miles. I've got Uniroyal Rainsports now and after 4000 miles they don't even look half worn, I reckon they'll do 10k easy, they grip just as well as the continentals and are about half the price!

Got through Goodyear F1's in 8k , now on Michelin Sport 3, which do seem to be lasting better.

A mate of mine has just bought a st3 2007 for £10k just under 3 yrs old 30k mls (from a dealer with warranty).
So it seems slightly over priced to me for the age.

sold mine back to ford after 6 months as it spent 50% of it's time being fixed, ended up losing 7k on it as i'd just had enough of it going wrong.

power steering pipes failed twice, dumping all it's fluid. once whilst parked up and once mid corner nearly putting me through some railings

dash used to lose all power to it rendering half the controls useless i'e no stereo, heaters, indicators etc

rear suspension knocking

fog lights steamed up daily

and the best one - rust!! this wasn't FMC's fault but the dealers!! they had a engineering company next door and metal filings where dropping on the new cars in there compound. 3 days after i bought it i got caught out in the rain and had to put it away in the garage wet, that weekend i got it out to clean it and it was covered in rust spots from where the filings were sat on the paint, being a white car it kinda stood out!! the dealer then put it into smart car uk for it to be buffed!!!! without me knowing this is what they were doing. all that did was push the metal filings further into the paint work.

don't get me wrong there a blinding car and the concept is brilliant, i think i just got a bad one
