Default How to work storage heater?

we have a storage heater, its got a input and output control. Its set to output 4 and input 3. Just wondered what the hell it means? Output is obvious but what about input? The amount of heat stored or something?

Inside the heater you have an electric element like a big kettle element, and it is surrounded by bricks that absorb the heat.

Input refers to the amount of electricity it takes in during the night. The colder tomorrow's weather the higher you want the input.

Output refers to the opening that lets the heat out again. The higher the number, the faster the heat gets out.

Ideally, you want to reduce the output before bedtime and open it the following day/evening when sitting in the room watching telly or whatever.

Keep the output down until you are actually in the room, otherwise all your heat will get out while you are at work and there will be none left when you need it.
