Default ERST Values

Dunno if it's just me (probably is! ) but is anyone else find themselves amazed at how much RSs are worth?! For what is essentially a old escort or fiesta with an engine you can pick up for a couple of hundred quid and a few bits of plastic bolted onto it you still see them changing hands for thousands of pounds (i know there are a few other differences, interior etc, but not major ones).

Why?! Yeah i mean they're not exactly a common sight on the road these days but they're not really rare either, so why so much?? Say the average price for an RS is 2.5 - 3 grand, you seen how much car you can pick up for that these days??

Dont get me wrong i think they are cool little cars, my brother has an ERST and i love it, but i wouldnt pay 3 grand for it!! Know what im saying?

True enough, but that means people are prepared to pay 3 grand + for them, again, why?!

Im not talking about new cars (what new cars do you know that cost 3 grand anyways?!), but you can get a not too old fully kitted out BMW 325i for that sort of money, for example. Like i said i like RSs im just suprised at how much they still go for is all.

i know which car i would rather have.

they will go the way of mk1 and mk2 escorts....any decent series 1 or series 2 escort is a sound investment

for example, back in 2002 (when i was a student and couldnt afford it ) I was offered a 1978 RS 2000 for just £1500 quid, tax, tested and tidy.

what would you need to buy one now.....£7-8k???
