Ill be setting off to enhanced performance nice and early in the morning, so let the mapping commence!
i dont know why im bigging it up so much, as i expect the power level will be avarage
but i dont care, so long as it stays together!

He has had 2 according to the texts he sent me.
Damaged the tow car and the trailer.
Don't know details, am sure he'll fill us in later.
Fuel pump died so he'll have to map it another day now.
Made 115bhp before the pump died as they were still runnin it in and doing part throttle mapping
Standard 1.8 zetec power ftw
On the plus side at least the engine is working ok an didnt put a leg out of bed or anything like that!
These little glitches are to be expected on such a long build

chip and pee vee = cunts!
what a fucking day!
where to start... well at the begining i guess!
left at 6.45am, went to the nearest bp to fill the 3dr up and set the wanky stack fuel level guage with the custom calibration setup. it still shows the reading as empty... dunno why at the mo.
then found that the nice pro ally fuel cell fooking leaks from the seals on top, not looked into this any further as yet
(bear in mind i have used this trailer and the same car on several occasions before to tow the sierra without issue)
then, got on the motorway. above 50mph the trailer was VERY unstable on some parts of the motorway, but on the flat sooth sections it was ok.
anyway, arond j9/8 for maidenhead i went past 2 lorries at 60mph, then as i indicated and started to move back into lane 1 the trailer got a wobble on! so i accelerated slightly as your supposed to, then the fucking trailer went left, then right, left etc. fuck knows how i didnt end up on the roof or cause a massive pile up i dont know but managed to slow it down and get on the hard shoulder. luckily it was 8am ish so traffic was faily light.
phoned my mate and said WTF! he told me to move the car back on the trailer to centre the weight over the axles, which i did. but that made it worse slightly. so i drove the next 75 miles at 45mph...
got all the way down the m25/m23 with no issues. then as i was pulling away from one roundabout accelerated to about 40mph and it felt like there was a very slight crest/bump. nothing to worry about... but no the fucker went again, so this time i dropped to 4th and nailed it, then the trailer just snapped left, wheels on the grass verge and then right, clipping the armco. another 2 inches and i would have missed
proper opposite lock time in the old 406 was needed. managed to stop ok, again not many cars behind so that was ok. just a change of pants needed.
trailer suffered very minimal damage luckily. the 406 has a 2 foot scrape on the side of the rear bumper from the trailer, and its pushed the exhaust over a few inches. so the trailer was properly 90 degrees to the car!
fuck knows how i didnt die, but the last 3 miles were done at 25mph...
got to EP about 10.15, unloaded the car which some how suffered no damaged, i would have been gutted if i ha put it on its roof without me actually being in the car!
anyway, stuck it on the rollers and proceded to run the engine in.
luke noticed that there may be an issue with fuel deelivery as it was leaning off while mapping the low down stuff.
so after lunch he tested it by doing a small power run, the fuel mixture started off ok, but then leaned off badly so it was aborted. made 115bhp, screamer does indeed sound a bit mental lol. seems to pull ok, and luke said its a very good engine. so fingers crossed.
basically i need a new 044, and a rejig of the fuel lines, luke will sort this hopefully monday and finish the mapping. then they will get it mot'd, and as long as it passes i will drive the thing home, fook the trailer!
and on closer inspection of the trailer, the near side wheels, the front one has a lot of play in the bearing and some toe out, while the rear has a lot of positive camber. so that could well be the handling issue!
with no weight on it, its fine. but with a car it was very unpredicatable and unstable
been trying to upload a vid to photobucket but it wont recognise the file, and its 80mb... so dunno if its too big anway...
fucking cars
main thing is that my asshole and the enigne are still intact.

Glad no one got hurt mate, next time though,if it snakes put the car forward, not back,it's probably the train length that caused you the snaking.
Whoever told you to speed up is talking total shit, starts snaking, lift off,try not to brake, just let it naturally slow down until snaking stops.I've been towing for a while now and own my own trailer and I've still been caught out!!
I put my 328 cab on the other day to take it over for paint, and I couldn't do over 40,just snaked everywhere, towed it home last week at 65-70 no probs, just needed to get the weight up over the front of the trailer, different cars, different loadings.
Not all bad news about the car and I'm sure all will be fine when you get the fuelling sorted, cant believe it took 6 years to build, still looks really current, nice car.

matt, will do
vaughant. thats the thing, last time i used the traler it was fine. so very odd really. i think last time the car was a lot more forward actually as they have fitted a spare wheel to the front so i could only go so far forwards.
i did try lifting off off without braking the first time, but it got quite severe and wouldnt stop so i just kept dabbing the brakes and eventually stopped
i dont think ill be towing anything again in the near future lol

Ah we all have hairy moments while towing, don't be too put off by it.I remember in the heavy snow in jan/feb I got asked to recover a car upto maesteg, about 10 miles from Bridgend.the guy was ok but as usual they never tell you the full story, the car only had 3 wheels after the crash,no drive and it went on a drive I could only just get my jeep on.
When I got there, the street was littered with cars where the owners had abandoned them due to the snow, total nightmare, went to turn round up an uncleared road, thank fuck I've got a 4x4 or it would be carnage.
After all that, incredibly,we get car and jeep sorted totally unscathed, there was literally 1/2 an inch to spare either side of the pillars!! decide to pop to the paintshop on my way back to get some bits and bobs and somehow manage to jacknife the trailer into my rear bumper in an empty carpark,WTF????
