Default 4x4 conversion regastraion advice

Hi guys just after a bit of advice. I am wondering how you would go about registering something like a 4x4 jeep chassis with a car body on it, would you use the jeep reg or the car reg ?
The reason I ask is I have a H reg mk4 escort cab with a dieing engine which also needs a bit of work body wise, and fancied bolting it on to something like a nissan patrol chassis, if i can find a decent one with a good engine. but if there is a lot of agro with the paperwork side ofg things I might just bang the escort on ebay and see what I can get for it,or even drag it over the weighbridge after ive have taken anything usefull off it.

You use the chassis number and VRN from the donor chassis and remove the VIN from the bodyshell IIRC

Or that's what a chap I know did when he used a Daihatsu 4trak chassis with a Ka bodyshell

I was hoping it was a simple thing,
how would you you insure something like this as a kit car or a modified 4x4 of whatever the chassis was from ?

technically if the vehicle has a completely seperate chassis then its simple. You re-register it depending on what you are calling it. Most of these are normally bodu conversion kits so they have a name.

Good news is as long as its an unmodified chassis then no SVA.

Quite a few kit cars use 4x4 chassis.
