yep. plenty.
I'd think carefully before you do it though... can be a sackable offence to bypass security systems put in place by your employer...

Just google browsing anonomisers.

Why bother? If the company you work for says they don't want office resources being used to access certain sites, while you work there and use said resources, you agree to be bound by those rules.

Pisses me off people who think it doesn't apply to them. Sysadmin's jobs are hard enough without whiny fuckers wanting to access facebook and see if its time to harvest pineapples

"ctunnel" but as above the retsrictions are in place as your business operators dont want the facilities or time they are paying for to be used in that way.

you dont know what i do or who i work for.i dont want to harvest pineapples but id like to be able to speak to my wife on the chat since shes 7 months pregnant and theres 2 phones between 130 people and getting on for more than 5 mins at a sensible time is hard.folk like you piss me off,i hope i have really annoyed you and caused you great hardship.maybe if you werent such a tool you wouldnt have a shitty job doing system admin and you could sit on facebook all night chatting, not that it would be much use since you prob dont have any friends.

cheers for the other sites, ill try them later as i know i wont get in trouble, the filters are put in place mostly to stop folk downloading musicthen they add sites to stop folk surfing instead of working, but im sitting here most nights doing nothing so im doing no harm.

Then use MSN or Skype or ask your IT admin about a possible alternative that is cleared for use by the IT department, they won't rip your head off. Your argument is bollocks about Facebook and circumstances don't come into it about why you want to use such services in the company's eyes. Company policy dictates certain systems to be used and some not, why you can't seem to get your head around that is beyond me.

People like you piss me off as your first instinct is rather to look for a cheat than engage the rational human beings in IT and ask for a solution, I'm sure you won't be the first in those circumstances and you won't be the last.

Why chuck insults about? You haven't annoyed me in the slightest, your type of people I described above annoy me and its frustrating that I spend 70% of my day dealing with this bollocks rather than decent project work and mucking about with new technology that I find more interesting. You may believe my job to be shitty, but I love what I do, I would imagine much the same way you do. My friends would probably testify to that

Anyways, I'll say sorry for coming on strong, guess I just had a bad moment when I wrote the post.

im a 3rd party,i dont directly work for the client so their it dept wont bother about me.
i dont have msn or skype,im not a computer expert or i would have found a way round their site blocks.
i dont care about my arguement because im not arguing,i asked if their was a wormhole site so i could get onto sites i wanted to use and that rattled your cage and you were the 1 calling me a whiney fucker,i didnt whine once,i merely asked a question.
in the office im using there are 2 internet computers.when im inside im doing nothing productive as im waiting on other people,i cant get on certain sites due to the computers being blocked,im not downloading music or movies like most folk do,im not costing teh company money as im doing nothing anyway.
i cant use any of the anonomiser sites anyway, they are all blocked.
keep your sorry, just dont jump on your high horse next time,if you have nothing useful to add then go look at another post.

could use command prompt.
start, click run, type cmd, press enter

when the black box comes up, type ping follwed by the web address you want to get onto.
e.g.
ping www.google.co.uk

it will give you a number like 173.194.37.104 - type that number into your browser and it may work, it depends on the complexity of your servers firewall/proxy.

Actually, you may find they have a contractors policy, most places do for guest access. If you don't ask, you won't know if they do or don't.

You may find the company pays for its connection based on its usage, which is why it appears to be locked down tight and restricts sites and why its also very restrictive with proxying and anomiser sites too. However, if you could post some of the information about the block page you get when you try to get to a banned site, it might help you find a solution that works for both parties.

Fair enough. Public internet site though means any opinion is allowed, whether you like it or not though.

It can be a bit of an arse offshore trying to get any contact to your family for more than 10 minutes a day.

Msn would be good but most rigs have it blocked. Also if everyone was allowed to download on the pc's out there they would be at crawling speed, most usually are anyway.

As above I'd be wary of getting your contract retracted as a result of deliberate circumvention of their IT policy.

They may well have proxy servers in the banned list as well, in which case you are going to find it harder to find a way around it.

TBH the easiest thing to do would be just setup your own little chat site that only you and your wife know the address of, it wont be in the banned list, you can edit out and words like "chat" from the code when you upload it and there are loads of free chat applications available to mimic facebook chat.

If you did that, you wouldnt be doing anything wrong at all in the eyes of the IT department I suspect.

Im sure someone on here would set that up for you on a URL somewhere if you cant do it yourself.

Depends on the company.

The IT department where I work at the moment are fantastic, but its a technology company anyway so we dont have any stupid users in the first place so dont get treated like such.

As said, even if you get around security you may risk your job as any half decent IT system will log everything done even if the pages viewed are encrypted.

Another thing to watch for is that even if you do gain access via a proxy and encypted page, the IT staff can still view your screen LIVE remotely...
(stopping that is another subject all together..LOL)

Anyway, if after all that you still want help....

The one I have used in the past is www.proxify.com

It works very well but even better once you have suscribed.

That site name is probably blocked BUT once suscribed, you get acces to many alternate access points that are secure hidden backdoors on other unrelated websites and all pages sent to you are under encypted HTTPS so cannot be viewed by anyone but you (except as mentioned above)

I wouldnt advise accessing the site address I mentioned above on the work computer... Setup away from work then use their shortcuts

can you not take a laptop with you and nick their lan cable?
you will still have to use proxies etc. but that way they won't be able to get live feeds from your screen, but will still be able to see what you have been on through the history stored in their servers/router etc etc.

Just wanted to add... if you're a third party misusing (or deemed to be by the company whose premises you're on) IT systems I would expect a much harsher/stronger response if you do get caught!

What I like is when 90% of the company work on Macs, yet 10% of the IT staff understand them - "Oh, you're on a Mac... I'll... er... I'll call you back."

Our IT policy doesnt prohibit forums, and nor is anything locked down, in fact Ive even had to visit porn websites in the past while in one job I had as an actual paid part of my job!
(was doing research into pop up windows about 10 years ago and they were a good place to find such things!)

And so it begins! I'd rather have a tramp piss in my face than use a PC every day!

No, it's not 'important' to have Macs - they're just better for what we want them to do (and not in an obviously quantifiable way). Nothing, and I mean nothing you're about to retort with will make me change my mind. Yes I am a Mac bummer, and yes I'm proud of it.

The sites you are looking for are called "Proxy Avoidance" as said any half decent URL Filtering solution will block these anyway.

It does not matter what type of node it is I.E if your plugged your laptop in as suggested as it will do exactly what your work PC does as your still connecting through the network, the exception being if you had the URL filtering software installed locally.

That is if you could plug your laptop in anyway (NAC) but that is another long story.

It must be a terrible filtering system BTW if you can access the website by IP address.

Also if it's any half decent IT system everything will be logged IP address, user name, history, date time etc so you can easily get found out.

Ah, by PC, I meant a Windows based operating system, as opposed to Mac OS.

It's a personal preference thing, and while some prefer the joys of Windows, I prefer the Mac interface.

Some people, for some reason get their knickers in a twist over it, and it's usually Jim or Danneth!

Next time I go to Bath, I will send any tramps in the street to your office

Macs are nothing but hype just like the Iphone....Overpriced, over specced and fail to do the basics.

lee,

try these alternatives..... (click "continue" if you get a security certificate problem)

https://70.85.195.224

https://0x46.0x55.0xC3.0xE0

These may help you bypass proxy name blocking as it bypasses DNS lookup depending on how clever your security set up is.

There is also a proxify widget you can download which uses a non HTTP IP port which will get past most security set ups !
