stobarts trucks & trailers might look shiney but alot of them are fooking hanging underneath so to compare them to willie betz etc isnt quiet right as alot of there motors might look rough but are quiet tidy underneath

Did'nt go much on the yard foreman " Slow down, you've been warned " think i would have gone round the yard again and go past him at 56 mph, and the delevery times, only a hour to get to Peterbrough, how the hell can you stick to delevery times with todays traffic.
What did one of the drivers say, i like driving, your your own boss nobody breathing down your neck, like fuck it is, you cant stop for a piss without Stowbarts Hitler wanting to know why your not moving,
I will stick with my boss, we only have 3 Scania's and i dont hear from him from one week to the next.

Wouldn't waste my time watching anything to do about Stobart. Absolute shower of cunts the lot of them. Company is trading on it's name, that's the only reason they're still here.
I got out of the industry 2 years ago, just not the same as it was. Far too much emphasis on the legalities now and all the legislation etc, and trying to get money out of folk is near impossible - the supermarkets are the worst, then I would say the cunts at Stobart's. They hold on to the money as long as they can hoping that you'll go pop. Lost count of the amount of times we threatened some of the supermarkets with court action to freeze their accounts until we got our money.
Some of the dodges are legendary tho. We went through a spell of always having our lorries pulled on the M74 to check drivers hours etc. So we used to get our drivers to pull in at Southwaite or Gretna and go for a shower and a shave, then cover themselves in aftershave. When/if they got pulled they would jump out the cab and say "working for the last 3 days solid mate? Naw no me, I'm just on, just picked the motor up at Carlisle" The amount of times this was enough to convince the inspectors was unreal.
We've done alsorts, some you wouldn't believe!! Crazy days.
The nightly fish run out of Scotland to Heathrow was and still is the best tho. Crazy shit goes on there.

a story i was told was about Norbert Dentressangle , Stobart wanted to go into europe so ND said ok you do that and i will come into UK , he has over 4000 trucks and after all running cost and overheads are paid he makes £10 clear profit per truck per day , NICE
have a look here http://www.norbert-dentressangle.co....13.0.0.gb.html

been watching the series just out of interest. that truck dumper looks a great bit of kit! i were more interesting in the engineerin side of it thou. they never showed how they strap them trucks down is what i wanted to know, all they showed were it driving on and off.
wanted to me a trucker since being a kid and travelling europe in a truck every school holiday, would still like a go now but it seems there is no money in it compared to what i do now.
would love a drive of a truck thou

wincantons are offering £30k a year for class 2 at hoddeson, i recently had my induction with them, decided to stay with my current employer driving class1 in the end as they offered me a nice pay rise and its only 4miles from me as opposed to wincantons 20mile drive.
also ADR still pays well depending who your with.
£40k a year is achiveable. some of the BP and morrisons drivers are getting close to £50k working on their days off, however there are some companies/agencies offering far less than that.
Due to do my cpc early next year.
love driving the wagons but hate the hours which is the only reason ive been looking at retraining

These jobs dont come up that often and you know why too.

hows that then! and dont say a magnet lol it may disrupt the signal from the pulse generater to the tacho head but will still show a fault in the engine ecu as the truck knows its moveing because of the signal from the ebs sensors but the tacho says its not!

Me and the Mrs were trying to work out was Debbie a male or female or not sure. I would like the wheels off the horse box on my Volvo.
They were talking about the stow aways in the trailers, we had a driver who had one guy hiding under the trailer , holding onto the air tank with his legs over the second axle, they must be desperate to get here doing that.

I watched about five minutes of it tonight, fuck me, talk about trying to massivly over-sell the job of driving a truck!! ..
Watching the dull cunt driving the twin rig, describing how difficult it was had me in bits!! " yeah, in a high wind, you have to steer into it to stop being pushed off course"... "yeah, approaching a steep hill, you have to keep as much momentum as possible, then put your foot on the accelerator"!!
Jesus fucking Christ, then there was tranny annie and mini beergunt me, what a pair of fucking freaks!!!
Its hardly the most thrilling series is it? Helicopter rescue etc is watchable as hovering a 15 ton helicopter in a gale, in the pitch black whilst winching a guy onto a pitching and rolling boat is quite skillful and interesting.. A halfwit driving a truck isn't great tv IMHO!

Driveing a truck isent as easy as it looks mate lol its not the driveing along thats hard its getting round all the twats on the road in there cars that think u dont need any more room then they do when your 10 times the size of them and then theres some of the small place u are meant to get them! have u ever tryed backing a tractor and trailer into a small yard with half that towns traffic looking at u like your a twat in there way because they could get there fiesta in there in 2 seconds!

Not saying it's not a skill, but ffs driving a truck in a straight line and negotiating hills is hardly rocket science is it? and yes I have driven trucks, just laughing at the way the guy was massivly over-bigging up how difficult it was!!
