supervisor is the lowest form of management they are below assistant manager and branch manager!..not sure how it would work in his shop but our branch manager is hardly ever in store so the shop gets run by the assistant manager with 2 supervisors below him!..out assistant manager does fuck all really, just floats about and lets the supervisors run it

Firstly, no one would have spoken to me like that, complete lack of respect for you and any of the management.
IF they had, I would have taken them aside when they came in and made it clear that you won't be spoken to like that and that if it continues then it will be taken further. Just see what happens from there. It's all you can do realistically.

Yeah the first thing i thought is "text, what the fuck".
When i used to work in retail it was phone call only, i really dont know why you(and i guess your other managers) give out your mobile numbers to staff? im guessing its not a works phone.
If you gave all your staff the store number, or a number which rings the office landline and NOTHING else then your staff wouldnt be able to send texts and they'd HAVE to ring and speak in person, then things like this would not have happened. People tend to speak differently in text and act all hard, where as if they were talking on the phone they probably wouldnt.
So yeah i think its all wrong, your procedure(s) is the problem here, and of course the girls attitude does not help at all.
You should speak to HR (as above) and speak to the manager above you and decide what action to take, she needs to be dealt with obviously, and doing it the correct way will cover your back aswell

Well she came in at three today after deciding to call and say she didnt send any text?
Ive came to the conclusion that she's lost the plot, have sent her on her break and will speak to her once shes back.
Im incharge of the store when the general manger is out or at our other store.
Rog - Not fit at all!
We all have each others personal mobile number incase any staff cant make it in id rather them call me before a shift, so i can arrange cover than waiting till the store is open and being left high n dry.

I have my boss's mobile number, but its so much more laid back here but if i need to tell him im not coming in, during work hours ill ring the office and speak to him, and if i need to ring him in the evening which is vary rare although i had to tuesday night, i rang him and not text him! I text a lot but i dont think its right to text my boss he gets a phone call!

ok .. when she starts work at 3 tomorow just tell her the rude texts were not appreciated, you will be liasing with the manager when he returns and will let him deal with it ..
personally i would not let her start early again ... just look at her contract and see what it states the working hours are .. then enforce them ..

All this shit bogus advice - I know a thing or two about man-management so here's what to do. When she comes in tomorrow spark the bitch in the back of the neck with a Taser, then when she hits the deck knee drop her. Honest she won't talk to you that way again.
