Default More power from 2.0 TDCi Mondeo?

Hiya,

what's the easiest way to get more power out of a 115 bhp 2.0 TDCi Duratorq Mondeo?

Remap? Or can you maybe even load up the software of the 130 bhp version with a Ford tester?

personally, id think about it, they can kill injectors and the DMF with the standard power

but on the flip side, there are cars out there that have been remapped and decatted and the DMF and injectors are fine...............

I don't think injector or DMF faults have anything to do with the kind of power you run. Seems more like a problem with factory tolerances to me.

Tiff, is yours a 2.0, too?

Keep me up to date! Be nice to see what it can do on the rollers. I guess a good 160 - 180 bhp are possible?

good point, well made mark, but the injectors, DMF, or both, will go at some point on most TDCi mondys, increasing the power/torque, just quickens up the process.

with a tdci 130 after remap you could espect 160BHP and 400 nm

My TDCi ST 2.2 should be 153bhp / 295 lbft torque as standard.

With a decat and a roveron box set at 6/9 I got 172bhp / 355 lbft torque on the PF rolling road down in Horsham a couple of weeks back.

I don't think the gains are as good on the 115PS engine. I believe the 130 has different injectors, or so I've been told.

I think Superchips only claim about 15bhp or so for the 115PS, so basically makes it about 130bhp.

Whereas the 130PS goes up to more like 160bhp or something. The old 2.0 TDDI claims an increase to 148bhp or something apparently though! Not bad for the "inferior" engine!

We do all tdci and infact any re map on tdi engines with great results!!!
Ł300+ for a before and after on the rollers..
As said on the 130 ps you will see around 160-170hp and over 300 lbft so well worth while..
Iv got an audi 2.0 tdi s line doing 190 something hp and 350 lb ft,iv also got a 1.9 tdi up from 130 to 186 hp and 320 lb ft and iv got same map in my seat leon also and that does near nye the same figures...all go like rockets and the seat still returns 43 mpg!!!
All the above cars Ł300+ vat..

The weak point on these cars is the DMF and more power equals more wear and at around Ł400 for parts, clutch kit,DMF and cylinder plus labour isnt cheap. Injectors and pumps are also problematic and new are in the region of Ł200 and Ł600 respectively.The basic engine unit is good,however the ancillary components are a nightmare and personally wouldnt tune it.
Ref tuning the 115, the 130 has a larger turbo and different injectors so power gains will be much lower.

I will be all right then.....As i have just had a set of brand new injectors and a new DMF and clutch...........

TBH with just the decat fitted it has made the car alot more lively through the rev range.....Deffo a worthwhile mod.

I am having a power run for a "Before" BHP figure, then a remap...then an "After" power run to see what it is making mow so i will let you know.......Got a PROPER deal on it from the Mondeo website........

The same is true for ANY car you modify. All components are likely to wear out quicker if you put more stresses through them - it's hardly rocket science.

Also, please tell me where you can get a DMF, Clutch and slave cylinder for Ł400!!!

what about a airtec intercooler aswell? Anyone fitted one yet? Are they any good?

I fitted one last week. Fits well and looks good, but I've not done any power runs.

I've the 'cooler, decat and have removed the EGR gubbins, and want a remap to work with the mods. But I've got a trip to Delphi first to sort out the cold start smoke. Will look at a remap after they've replaced injectors, or whatever it is they'll do. Hoping to get a genuine 150bhp, and 300lb/ft.

Some ofhe evolutions re-maps alowe you to "turn off" the EGR valve. So the ecu stops it from opening. Not sure if the mondeo is one tho

Interesting! I've actually removed the metal pipe that goes from the EGR to the manifold, and blanked it off at both ends. Have also just ordered an EGR bypass as well!
