Bit of a random one this but im forever throwing away bottles of barely opened sauces, i.e , ketchup, bbq, curry, mayo etc.
Have about 10 or so on the side that are about 2-3 months old. Will they be off as on the back of them it says once opened use within 3-4 weeks.
How the hell are you meant to use a whole bottle of bbq sauce in this time.Takes me around 6 months!
Will they be ok to use after a few months or be off?
Also is it best to keep them in the fridge ? as obviously in the shop there on the shelf.

Hey fella.the fridge is the boy, sauces last forever, just look at the preservatives in them!!! Mayo's the one to watch though as it's egg based so if it looks fucked bin it.barbeque sauce is like 90% sugar so you've got loads of life in one of them!!!

They will be fine.
Spices tend to lose their "heat" over time. We had some birds eye chillies we used for sauces, and didnt realise they had lost their potency till we bought some new.

in the 20 years i lived at home, my mum never once put tommy sauce in the fridge, and it was opened far longer than 4 weeks and im not dead lol
its just a 'best before' date. ie you wont die if you eat year old sauce, but it may not taste as nice a new un.

I agree with Fudgey, I've never kept sauces in the fridge and never really chucked them out until the bottles were empty, often taking years
not done me any harm yet, lol.
