Default price on a standard cosworth full rebuild

please tuners chime in.
how much are people paying for a full rebuild top and bottom drive in and out. standard spec.
price and company who are doing it.
2wd but i wouldnt think 4wd would be that much different.

I remember being with Mark @MAD a few weeks ago, who quoted a VERY good price drive in/drive out for a totally standard rebuild!

its difficult to put a price on it without yours being inspected first, e.g. if the crank is any good

If your unit is fully rebuildable ie doesnt need a new block or head or crank then a 2wd can be as cheap as Ł2.5k drive in drive out and 4x4 Ł2750
Thats new pistons rebore ,crank polish, rods re bushed, head rebuilt etc etc..

cheers danny

When i owned and run abc motorsport a few years back i got slated for quoting a base line figure of Ł4k for a 380-400hp engine as everyone said there would be corners cut and i wouldnt use the right bits!!!those engines are still going now...
Iv always done a good engine at a good fair price imo and now me/luke can now map our own we can do even better engines and better deals!!!

we can get a 2wd engine out alot quicker than a 4x4 engine and the car wont take up a ramp where as the 4x4 will so just Ł250 extra in labour thats all..

I think a tuner may be a bit scared to answer in you, just in case they upset you, and they become a target for your sniper rifle

What condition if known is the engine and what spec is it to be built???

Looks very tidy and im sure hes good but Ł1200 doesnt get you much mate so cant see theres many new parts in there???
By the time you buy new pistons re bush the rods get the crank polished/ground,new shells, new pump etc youve done over a Ł1k and thats without loads of other bits and or labour so like iv said must of been a straight forward freshen up???

Just to add as a comparison and with full evidence from engine dyno in the next couple of weeks our 450/450 hp lb ft engine conversion will be at a good alround ŁŁŁ for punch and will work well on the road and track...
Alot of you have seen and heard alot about cossierichs 2wd saph built by the mad crew with awesome results???
Its a very well built and straight forward spec engine consisting of new pistons re-bore etc etc and is pretty much std equipment with a gt3071 turbo siemens injectors and has achieved 480 hp and 470lb ft..awesome and with a lovely power spread..
We are offering a very similar thing and will gaurantee over 450/450(with proof shortly)
the spec of our engine is full 4x4 head and 200 block(but can be done on a 2wd 205 block)new std pistons with valve cut outs re-bushed con rods, arp con rod bolts, uprated oil pump, big wing baffled sump, wrc h/g,new std head bolts, rebuilt head with exhaust guides,my own spec of inlet cam, double valve springs,4x4 inlet plenum with 10 mm spacer,gt3071 sep w/g and then fully remapped on our own choice of ecu back to back with a l8 for comparison...
On a drive in drive out price with a car with a fully servicable engine we can offer this conversion for as little as Ł5k all in mapped obviously more if you go for a new ecu and if you needed any new major parts etc ie block, head or crank..
The one above will be fitted into a escos with a new engine loom and ecu and some other extras and has cost Ł7k all in ready to drive...

cheers danny

deffo intrested in this sort of set up danny !!

currently putting my own motor toegther , and specs not far off what you've posted ,

200 block -6 long studs
stock crank -new shells
new pumps gaskets (obv )
big wing sump
mahle +5 pistons new rings with valve cutouts
re bushed rods with arp bolts
2 wd ex manifold - option to go external if needed -prob rather stay internal

fully rebuilt 4x4 head , ported , new guides, seals ,double valve springs

currently havent decided on cam choice ( have stock cams here ) , turbo , inlet , ecu and injectors

mark at mk motorsports offerd me one of his own style plenums i think im going to go with ( was a plenum harvey used to use )

what would you advise matey . ecu wise im not worried about sticking with l8 , i need a loom anyway ,

ohh and im set up for coil on plug mate ......

Looks like youve got it all covered mate, the l8 is good enough but would still prefer something a bit more up to date and faster but thats your choice???
As for turbo go for the gt3071,you can get an internally gated one but id go for seperate wg as its a lot better and not to much grief to sort but again up to you??
Cams,im biased here but if id stay std ex and my own inlet(results to follow)but then i will have to fit and time it for you(but well worth while)depending how dear the mk inlet plenum is either that or a hart and the trusted siemens...
As your long studded and ported head you could go for a gt3076 and go for 500+hp or the above for 450hp+ thats also up to you..
How big are your ports???and what is the car going to be used for mostly and more importantly how much boost do you want to run???
Keep your eyes on our results in the next few weeks as you may decide on the ecu we use and the same spec..

We are trying out the range of link ecus that look very good and will hopefully be marketing them if were happy with them but they seem the part and seem easy to use and have loads of functions as well as being very quick..
There will be some updates very soon and results posted as we are trying them on a few different cars..
At the mo they are just used by and in a race series i believe...
