Its on my list of cars to get, With a manifold change and a remap I can get similar power with what I had with my RS Turbo. 270bhp/325ft/lb of torque.
Something Im thinking about........

When I 1st got my car all it had was a remap (14psi) and a sports cat..... It was as quick as a stg1 Escort Cossie (small turbo) and full stainless with no cats running about 300bhp. Now I have a GT28, decat, manifold and 22psi held until the limiter in 5th..... it is now seriously quick in comparison and around the 330ish bhp maybe slightly more, comparing it to 1 of my old stg3 saffs it would kill it. The best bit is you arn't waiting for the next bit to fall off....lol

As above ! Stage 3 cossies are not quick at all by modern day standards
a 300bhp frs would eat one no probs
I have a frs 438 bhp and over 460 lbs torque
not as fast as my old 500bhp 3 door top end
but better in every other way ! And believe me I have abused both of them
and tried one car against another

I sold my FRS recently. I spoke to Dingy yesterday who'd been at Donno with the new owner. Now we all know how much of a RWD man he is and is used to high powered cars but he said he loved it and it was great fun.
Too many people have no idea just how good they are!
I just fancied a change tbh but there really was no need to sell!

A 300 bhp focus mk1 is a very quick car when drivern right on track and will keep up with most cars and pass them, i had one and tracked mine for years it didnt have much done to it and was great fun and if you want to see some videos of it on track then go look on youtube under "dunccoss" in the focus RS section

What ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
How is a car with 330bhp that weighs about 1200kg 'not quick'?![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Admittedly they don't drive as well as a new car, or handle anything like as well, but come on...
Not owned either, but I think for me, as it's just going to be an occasional car, I'd go down the Cosworth route. Bit more raw and aggressive. Who needs refinement and things for a toy, just get a lairy 3dr

It's gotta be the focus, if you want something that you know will start every time you wanna drive it! I've got my frs up for sale but i'm seriously thinking of taking it down and keeping it till i can afford to insure it again. I'm running 320bhp and it's a joy to drive round town but it's got the kick in the pants when you wanna give it some, even my mrs likes driving it!

If you want a modern car get the focus. If you want a retro car get the cossie. I dont know why people say they are shite for. Mine starts first time every morning. Its never misses a beat.

my cossie never had any starting issues in the 5 years i owned it - oh wait, there was one issue i had a few weeks after i bought it and that was the map sensor failing so not at all bad as long as they are looked after.
FRS is nice but it just doesnt appeal to me as they dont have that special character that the cossie has. Also if you look at the motorsport history it kinda pisses all over the FRS

Guilty of dragging this back up as I'm thinking of getting a FRS to use for the odd weekend.
For those that own a modded one, as that's what I'll be looking for, what sort of cost and how reliable are they. What are good mods to have, etc. Also what are they like on insurance and the cost to tax. Aren't they £400 a year plus?
Prefer the original wheels as well as after markets make it look like a look-a-like and not a real. Expensive to rebuild, engines, boxes, diffs?

The only 2 times my car didnt start in the 6 odd years that car was on the road was when a map sensor failed and the other was when the engine failed
