Default any bmw experts?

on my 94 525i i have the original remote for the remote locking, which closes the windows/sunroof when locked. only today it's decided not to work. the remote locking works and the sunroof/windows close when i hold the key in the lock to the left.

i've checked the handbook but it only explains operation for remotes built into the key, whereas i have a seperate bmw remote.

any ideas?

Battery is under the rear seat base on the E34 IIRC

As for that alarm system - Got the same on my E36 (red and grey button on a fob that shape) and it packed up ages ago, never bothered me so use the key in the door instead

ok, how the fuck does the back seat come up!?

it says in the handbook the outer parts of the base stay in position and theres a strap down the back of the base of the seat. only i can hardly slide my fingers in there let alone find any kind of strap.

and whats more theres no way the base is seperate from the outer sections, i'm sure it's one piece!

it's a saloon with leather if that makes a difference?!

theres a little plastic over in the rear of the drivers rear footwell which has a 10mm bolt underneath, is that anything to do with it?

yeah i've found the alarm siren with the bmw part number on it and the loom comes out and goes through the bulkhead. i've checked all the fuses under the bonnet but suspect theres more fuses near the battery?

pull the little plastic piece out that goes around the passenger side rear belt plug in. then just grab the cushion part of the passenger side rear seat and pull up kinda hard. the whole rear cusion should pop out.if i remeber right there was more inline fuses near the battery as it was years ago I had one

Right, i've got the seat up and found the alarm module, i'm gutted cos i had one identical of a e36 that i binned about a year ago.

Anyone know if it's ok to disconnect the module or will that fuck things up and then need recoding? i'm wondering since it's been very very hot the last few days theres a joint thats broken in there maybe?!
