Help with fault codes please
I have already posted about my Mondeo 2.0 2003 tdci loosing power etc and I asked this question in the post but not had a reply so thought I would try a new post.
I hope someone can help with a few suggestions as I have only had the car a week and only managed to drive it home from the sellers.
These are the fault codes from a local garage, can anyone give me some ideas on what the problems might be, I am at my wits end now as after just buying the car I cant afford to spend loads on repairing it.
I have now got the fault codes they are p1664, p2339 and I think the last one is u1900 communication bus fault - receive error- can anyone help with what all this means.
Thanks

1664 normally means software needs an update.the u1900 code is just a phantom code that comes up and doesnt affect car in anyway.not sure on the other code buddy sorry

The codes mean:
P1664 - Fuel injection pump malfunction
P2339 - Cylinder 4 above knock threshold
U1900 - Communication error with PCM is detected in CAN communication
I would suggest that the first thing to check would be the wiring to the fuel pump. If the wiring is good, then start checking the pump itself.

Fault codes
Thank you both for your replies, someone did mention the fuel pump to me, but when I looked at the cost to get one I didnt want to think about that.
Thanks for the suggestion about the wiring to the pump, I think that will be the first thing to go for and hope that is the problem.
Why would cylinder 4 show up with a problem, is that related to the problem above ? sorry to be dumb but I know nothing about all this. The car is smoking terribly, among many other problems.
What is a software update, is that for the whole car or just the fuel pump?
After any work done on the car do I have to get it re coded or something?
