Default Car wrapping..... whats the deal

A mate of mine has just bought a VERY nice BMW that has been fully wrapped and looks the nuts....

Whats the deal with it, what are the costs of wrapping a car and do you need to tell the DVLA about a color change as his is Silver but wrapped up white......

Wrap's don't count as a colour change as they are considered "temporary" so don't need the DVLA informing

Silver has a higher residual value

Hence why a few police forces in the UK now buy silver cars - Some of them livery them up keeping silver as the base but a few wrap them in white and livery them up over the wrap

While still removeable your still driving round in a different colour car which i didn't think they would allow without in informing them thats all

They wrap everything that's why a good wrap can take 1-2 days depending on car and wrap

Your looking at anything from a £1000 - £2000 for a good quality vyinal and wrap!!!

Got a place local to me in Nottingham that does this and its amaziing to watch!! the main guy that does it has 22 years experiance in wrapping and it shows, lovely work being sent out his workshop!!

I work for a company in the printing industry and we had a sister company that supplies vyinal Etc, had a go at it a couple of times and its not easy trust me!!!!

How hard wearing is the wrap? Does it start to peel up at the edges after a while? Didn't they do a VW Transporter with a blue bubble patterned film?

That looks well cool mate. Can you give us a few example prices of what you would charge for different cars. How easy is it to remove if you get bored with it ? Is it literally just a matter of peeling it of without requiring any special techniques. How long does it last in day to day use?

that ferrari was £1400, its got carbon fibre wrapped wing mirrors and stripes, plus detailing parts.

its just a big sticker at the end of the day, but aslong as your careful washing it, then will be fine,

you can polish it, etc, and nowadays the vinyls closer to paint finish.

a mini i did a few weeks ago

before

after

never cut on the car if you can help it,
but if you have to, theres a special tape that you use, that you put down first to cut the vinyl on, then peel it off.

cut vinyl, but not the paint.

strip car back as much as possible

the only thing with wrapping is the door shuts etc will still be the original colour, but as long as you keep the closings err, closed it will be ok lol
